Summary[]

Alice Zuberg (アリス・ツーベルク, Arisu Tsūberuku) is a main character in Sword Art Online's Alicization Arc, an artificial fluctlight who resides in the Underworld.

Years ago, she was but an innocent young girl who lived in Rulid Village alongside her father, the village chief, and is the childhood friend of Kirito and Eugeo. This all changed, however, when she accidentally ended up stepping into the Dark Territory, thus breaking the laws of the Taboo Index. She was labeled a criminal, and taken away by Deusolbert Synthesis Seven to the Central Cathedral, where she would be forced to serve under the Axiom Church as an Integrity Knight, Alice Synthesis Thirty (アリス・シンセシス・サーティ, Arisu Shinseshisu Sāti), having all her memories of her past life erased by the Pontifex, Quinella.

Each Integrity Knight was made to believe the same lie, that they were summoned from Heaven by the Pontifex to serve under the Axiom Church, making up for the loss of their prior memories. But it was thanks to Eugeo and Kirito's efforts that Alice was reminded of her past and Quinella's true nature, and although she didn't actually regain her erased memories, became willing to rebel against the Church, allowing her to break the Seal of the Right Eye, a feat no other Integrity Knight was capable of. From then onward, Alice became a knight who no longer fought in servitude of the Church or the Pontifex, but rather, for the safety of those she holds dear to her and what she believes is truly right.

Has fought in the War of Underworld as one of the Human Empire's most valuable warriors, slaying many of the Dark Territory's forces with complete ease. Alice was also the mentor of Eldrie Synthesis Thirty-One, a notable Integrity Knight on the level of the likes of Sortiliena)

Weaknesses: Spatial resources are required in order for her to use Sacred Arts, which also require vocal commands in order to be used. Requires sunlight in order to recharge the Fragrant Olive Sword's petals.

Incarnation: A secretive art within the Underworld which enables an individual or group to alter the state of the world through imagination and will. It is a skill passed down to Integrity Knights since ancient times. However, only several Integrity Knights are able to use this skill.

Sacred Arts: «Sacred Arts» are System Commands in Project Alicization that residents of Underworld believe to be magic rituals. In reality, they are just words used to arrange thoughts and guide the emotions of the caster to make use of one's imagination power. Because of this, the imagination of the user may either improve or decrease the effectiveness of an art.

  • Armament Full Control Art: The Armament Full Control Art is a high-ranking Sacred Arts ritual that is used to boost the offensive power of a Divine Object-class weapon by linking with the true essence of the weapon. As all Divine Object-class weapons strongly inherit the properties of the object that served as its nucleus in the form of memories, the Armament Full Control Art may be used to tap into the parameters inherited from the base material, thus increasing the power of the weapon in the form of special abilities. The ability acquired through the ritual depends solely on how the caster pictures the released form of the weapon. The first phase of the «Armament Full Control Art», called the «strengthening» phase, is the partial awakening of the weapon's memories, which manifest as a new offensive ability for the weapon. The «Life» of the weapon decreases greatly every time the command is used and the power of the ritual is determined by the caster's ability to imagine the released form of the weapon. The second phase of the ritual, called the «releasing» phase, is a command that releases all of the memories of the weapon, unleashing all of its rampant power. Memories unleashed with this phase become uncontrollable to the caster and might even engulf the caster himself.
