Summary[]
Ichigo Kurosaki is a normal kid living a normal life, except for the fact that he can see and interact with ghosts! One day, his fate was twisted forever when a monstrous spirit called a Hollow attacked his family. A soul reaper named Rukia Kuchiki saved his life, but in doing so, she took great damage and had to lend her powers to Ichigo so he could defeat the hollow for her. Hence, Ichigo Kurosaki was now a Substitute Soul Reaper! Their job is to cleanse souls that have become evil spirits, such as hollows, and send souls to the Soul Society where they should live in peace.
Everything was going smoothly until one day her brother, Soul Reaper captain Byakuya Kuchiki, came to arrest her for committing crimes against the soul society. It was then Ichigo and his friends' job to save Rukia from being executed wrongfully. Yasutora Sado, Orihime Inoue, and Uryu Ishida accompany him, and fight battles of their own, and Ichigo even fights Byakuya after unleashing the second sword release that few ever get to achieve, Bakai! During this, a looming threat affects the soul society, Aizen Sosuke. He had been planning his attack from the shadows, and succeeds at accessing the "Hogyoku," which he would use to turn regular Hollows into massively powerful "arrancar." The most exceptional arrancars made with it were then added to a group called the Espada, with a goal of defeating the Soul Society.
