~ Tagline for the first film |
Summary[]
Despicable Me is a series of films created by Illumination Entertainment, revolving around a world with somewhat secret society of villains running rampant and committing crimes, and one of heroes stopping their vile crimes.
The focus is on Felonius Gru, someone dead center of both worlds, dreaming of being a supervillain, yet becoming an Ant-Villain-League member, and starting a family after he started to grow old and fail a lot more.
Canon/What Will Be Considered[]
The currently four main movies and the Minions spin-off films are the prirmary media source, as each one does lead to another without that many major inconsistencies. There are some, such as a young Vector being present in Rise of Gru when Gru is a child, despite him being seemingly half his age in Despicable Me 1, or how it's implied that minions were created by Gru in the first film and a few of its shorts, but later said in Minions that they were around since life itself, though this can be explained by Gru creating biological clones of the minions instead.
Speaking of shorts, it's hard to say how canon they are, as they seemingly haven't been referenced nor contradicted in the series prior. Some of the video games however, like the original, do seem to follow a similar plotline to the movie with a handful of differences though, and since it would lead to the same event happening twice for inexplicable reasons, will not be considered canon.
Powers of the Verse[]
Physically speaking, the verse is around Large Town Level and Hypersonic, seeing as how even fairly average humans like Gru and Scarlet Overkill can survive nuclear missiles (Though it's debatable if their strength should reflect their durability), and Gru being capable of leaping across Missiles, as well as Vector and Brat being able to dodge gunfire, and Kevin being able to set the ground on fire. The verse is also capable of increasing their stats even more so, such as PX-41 Serum alter their genetics to increase their physicality, The Zodiac Stone to morph their body into a Chinese zodiac animal, or simply through using advanced technology, such as Balthazar Brat's mech being able to send hollywood into space.
Explanation: The PX-41 Serum in particular is capable of turning a rabbit into a monster implied to rip humans apart, which means its strength was increased by 15.8852093253 times at least, and 260.5 times at most, putting their Strength and Durability up to 30.6 Megatons of TNT, or City Level. This is consistent as we see Mega Minions, versions of the minions buffed by AVL tech, laser a hole through the Earth in a short time frame at 64.6 Megatons of TNT.
The massive amount of gadgets also leads to a handful of hax to utilize, such as Explosion, Ice or Genetic Manipulation, as well as Transmutation and Hacking. And finally, the shrink was capable of shrinking the moon, leading to... well, Moon Level Size Manipulation, although it did take a little while for it to fully shrink. That said, since the verse is reliant on this tech, Technopathy may be a weakness the verse can't cope with too well.
Calculations[]
- A Mega Minion lasers through the Earth. (64.6 Megatons of TNT.)
- Vector causes an Earthquake by just trying to destroy a rock. (Similar to this feat but using a Magnitude 3 and 4 Earthquake as a reference instead. 0.478 to 15.1 Tons of TNT/Building to City Block Level)
- Gru's Heat Ray Melted a Carnival Game (0.5 Tons of TNT/Building Level)
