Character Stats and Profiles Wiki

In the past, we have encouraged users to create new pages for powers and abilities they thought the wiki lacked. However, as of now, we want new pages to be approved by the staff, meaning that new powers and abilities pages must be suggested. This can be done in our official Discord server in the suggestion channel, or messaged to a staff member. Of course, users can always create blogs about powers and abilities to include in their profiles if they don't want to attempt creating official pages. Linking to other wikis' powers and abilities pages is also permitted.

~ Gatchan

Summary[]

Gadzilla Norimaki (則巻ガジラ Norimaki Gajira) also known as Gatchan, is one of the main characters in Dr. Slump. As an egg, Gatchan was sent to Earth by God to beget the machination of consuming the world and their population, during the advent of mankind. Unfortunately, Gatchan's egg was brought to the future by Arale and Senbei. Once hatched, The Gatchan had the ideals of a recusant, not caring for God's goals, instead, getting into random shenanigans with Arale. As the series progressed, Gatchan reproduced asexually, creating an identical duplicate, now being recognized as Gatchan #1 and Gatchan #2.

Age: 0 to 1 (Early Series) | Around 5 (Late Series) | Around 35 (DBS)

Classification: Gadzilla Norimaki, Gatchan #1, Gatchan #2, Angel, Cherub

Powers and Abilities:

  • Toon Force, Subjective Reality, Reality Warping, & Physics Manipulation (Gatchan's and other Dr. Slump character's ideas.[2] & gag character nature can influence and affected the world around them, allowing to bend the laws of physics and natural logic, constantly making nonsensical and illogical events occur. Gatchan's toon nature makes conventional methods and styles of battle ineffective.[3] Many powers and uses of Dr. Slump character's abilities are tied to their gag nature and innate stupidity which itself is weapon and power.[3][4])
  • Longevity (The first Gatchan was sent to earth at the "dawn of mankind" and was stated to be able to survive till present day.[5] Dr. Slump characters gag nature can make them unaffected by aging, as shown in episodes where multiple decades[3] and even up to a century passed.[6])
  • Regeneration (Up to High-Godly; History, Information (Type 2), & Plot), Immortality (Type 2, 3, 4, 7, & 8), Invisibility, & Incorporeality (In the story it was stated multiple times that characters cant die, due to being gag characters and because the characters are not bound by a storyline, any and all events that would lead to death do not occur.[7] This has also caused multiple characters to regenerate from attacks, as well as survive and instantly recover from lethal injuries.[8] Dr. Slump characters possess the capabilities to become ghost/souls upon death. While deceased, Dr. Slump characters continue to exist as ghost/souls, which are Invisible and Incorporeal, not being able to be seen nor interacted with by characters. While in the Afterlife, deceased characters can create portals and by moving through them they return to the mortal plain, being able to be brought back to life.[9] Characters with gag immortality can reform after getting their soul, along with their individual histories erased.[10][11][6][3] Gatchan's Plot Manipulation can self-activate allowing them to draw/will themselves into existence even with the absence of the plot. What the narratives holds is absent as well, such as reality, information, & history. They can do this regardless of if they were drawn into existence by the creator and can regenerate outside the pages which are independent of reality.[12])
    • Limited Immortality (Type 4) & Multilocation (Type 1) (Dr. Slump characters can use imagery of themselves from different fictional mediums as a controllable vessel. Which they can use to enter the real world,[13][14] they're capable of having those vessels & their regular body active at once.[15] This can even work for characters who have died in the past and a image of them is shown in the future, using that picture as a replacement body.[16][17][18])
  • Blessed , Regeneration (Up to High-Godly; History, Information (Type 2), & Plot), Immortality (Type 3, 4, & 8), Resurrection, Abstract Existence (Type 2), & Acausality (Type 3) (If their existence is removed or erased from the plot, they can be redrawn and restored by author avatars outside of the plot, who manipulate, govern, and control every aspect of the story.[19] These author avatars can also manipulate the events of the narrative to prevent characters from dying, revive characters from death, and restore characters from complete erasure of their narratives & stories.[20] Dr. Slump characters are manifestations of the concepts and ideas from the author. These ideas have been described as what gives birth to characters, being responsible for shaping, forming, and manipulating the fundamentality for the designs and aspects of characters.[21][22] Every Gatchan drawn on each manga panel of every page is another Gatchan. If one should be removed/erased from one page, the others drawn on other pages shall still remain and can replace them.[23])
  • Acausality (Type 1, 3, & 4) (Gatchan is able to recall the original events that occurred in history, even after those events have been altered by time travel.[24][25] Gatchan is unaffected by time paradoxes.[26] Such as when she interacted with herself from multiple points in time.[27] They can directly summon innumerable variations of herself across time to the present, with each variation capable of taking the place of the original.[27] Dr. Slump characters became completely independent and unbounded by the series and it's narrative. Not influenced by series events or alterations, remaining active even after it's conclusion.[28] They are also consequently independent of the series' established systems of logic, time, causality, & fate.[29][30] Additionally, it is shown that the flow of time has an irregular effect of simultaneously being applicable and inapplicable to gag characters.[3][30])
  • Body Control, Elasticity, limited Thread Manipulation & Organic Manipulation (Due to the Dr. Slump cast's nature as gag characters, they have showcased numerous feats of elasticity. Gatchan can stretch their mouth multiple times larger than their body.[31] Gatchan can release a material forming itself into a cocoon. The cocoon can then release silk threads, latching and attaching itself to everything within its vicinity.[32] etc. Gag characters can perform physiological actions that they themselves deem impossible, due to the nature of the narrative.[33][34] They can change their form into something akin to a bouncy ball.[27])
  • Reactive Evolution, Accelerated Development (Leveling; Physical Stats & Abilities), & Power Mimicry (Experience points and the leveling system of Dragon Quest 5 exists within the world of Dr. Slump. Through the use of the leveling system, characters can gain increased statistics and new abilities with each level up.[39] When Gatchan was affected by Plot Manipulation they adapted to it's effects, becoming resistant to that level. The cast can increase their potency of Plot Manipulation, as well. This effect is strong enough to gain multiple layers of plot manipulation and resistance to it in the same scene.[40] Gatchan has shown to be capable of making new powers whenever they feel like it.[41] Gatchan copied the Saiyan's ability to go Super Saiyan.[42] Characters are capable of copying abilities unique to other characters and races.[43])
  • Self-Sustenance (Type 1 & limited Type 3) & Space Survival (They can survive perennially in space. Gatchan can stay awake and active in space for a month.[44])
  • Flight (Can fly through any environment, atmosphere, and the vacuum of space.[44])
  • Absorption (Gatchan is capable of consuming any kind and amount of physical matter they want, without injury or adverse effects. Except for rubber.[47])
  • Stealth Mastery (Gatchan snuck into and moved across a guarded castle without anyone noticing.[55] Gatchan was capable of sneaking into a fully occupied room, remaining there for several moments without being noticed nor detected, even by beings who can predict all events that occur within the plot.[56])
  • Enhanced Senses & Extrasensory Perception (Gatchan can perceive people that are looking at them through a camera. Such as when they perceived and interacted with people that were watching them on a live broadcast[59]. The cast can see and function, despite the earth being pitch black from the sun being erased.[60] They can see invisible spirts[61] & the invisible author avatars.[62])
  • Electricity Manipulation (Can shoot electricity out of their antennae.[68] Gatchans electricity attack can affect type 1 inorganic beings, who innately resists electricity manipulation.[72])
  • Telekinesis (Gatchan can utilize telekinetic powers to control/move people and objects.[80] Furthermore, they can break and destroy structures as large as celestial bodies.[81])
  • Supernatural Luck (Gatchan has been described throughout the series as "lucky". This notion is propagated by almost everything going their way by the end of each story.[39])
  • Dimensional Travel, Immersion, & Time Travel (Gatchan was casually able to fly from earth to the afterlife.[61] Gatchan travelled from the prehistoric age to the modern age through inexplicable means.[64] Gatchan actions and attacks can cross through different mediums, they can also perceive the real world while immersed. This includes going into mirrors,[13] appearing in a TV,[89] and interacting with someone in a pre-recorded video.[18] They can will themselves into different stories & narratives, even ones from other franchises.[2] Gatchan can summon themselves in other character's dreams,[86] while not being part of it beforehand.[90] Gatchan is able to appear anywhere across different locations and events in time they want by moving across manga panels into different manga frames[91]. Gatchan is capable of exiting and travelling outside the boundaries of their own manga, anime, narrative, and plot.[12] Gatchan can manipulate the boundaries of the animation/pages,[12] allowing herself to move outside of it[92] and still be able to affect everything present within it.[1] This also allows her to enter 4th Wall space where she becomes invisible, undetectable, and non-interactable to all things existing within the plot in a similar fashion to author avatars.[62])
  • Ki Manipulation (Master Level), Transformation & Aura (Dr. Slump characters have showcased the ability to use & manipulate Ki. Gatchan has showed that they can turn into the regular Super Saiyan transformation.[42])
  • Limited Causality Manipulation (Characters in Dr. Slump who can travel through time do not always follow the typical logic of causality of Dragon Ball's cosmology, solving time paradoxes by branching timeline into a new one. To accommodate any changes in the past, while still keeping the future unchanged. Instead, they also possess the capability to alter history in ways mortals and regular characters can't.[24][25] The results of actions performed by Gatchan in the present can be inserted and/or enforced unto events years in the past.[33][93][94][95][64])
  • 4th Wall Breaking (Gatchan is aware that they're a fictional character and they can perceive the readers and watchers.[18] They're capable of perceiving and interacting with the metaphysical aspects of the plot, manga, animation, etc. Gatchan can gain information through looking into different manga frames.[54] Gatchan can perceive and detect characters observing them from outside the plot,[19] who cant be perceived by average 4th wall awareness.[92] Gatchan and the Dr. Slump cast have displayed awareness and interaction with the table of contents, title cards,[96][97] with the opening[98] and during the ending,[99] etc. Dr. Slump characters are aware of the commercials for their franchise. Also mentioning they specifically appeared in them.[100] Dr. Slump characters are aware of the actions and decisions of the editors in charge of the series, these editors see and treat the Dr. Slump universe as fiction.[8])
    • Nigh-Omniscience, Cosmic Awareness, Information Analysis, Precognition, & Retrocognition (Via 4th Wall Breaking; Gatchan and the characters in Dr. Slump have been shown to have metafictional awareness of when characters are present and absent from the narrative, are aware of everything characters say and do throughout the narrative, periods in time, alternate settings, and different storylines.[101] Being able to observe all events that occur within any given episode of the plot whether current or prior.[102] Gatchan can observe outside sources of information, such as guides, to gain knowledge of characters and events.[103][104] The cast have awareness of the events that transpire in different series and franchises.[39] Dr. Slump characters have a seemingly complete knowledge of events that will occur within any given episode.[105] Gatchan can perceive the progression of events and pull out a to be continued sign at the end of the chapter.[18] Dr. Slump characters can at any point in time play recaps of the events that occurred in previous episodes.[98])
    • Limited Spatial Manipulation (Via 4th Wall Breaking; The Author Avatars can draw a constant space below Gatchan for them to achieve flight.[21])
    • Limited Electricity Manipulation & Status Effect Inducement (Via 4th Wall Breaking; With the tension stare gag, characters can release electricity and flashes that can momentarily stun targets.[106])
  • Plot Manipulation, Text Manipulation, Law Manipulation, Fate Manipulation, Causality Manipulation, & Existence Erasure (Gatchan can manipulate, alter, & erase drawings, which are responsible for the rules, creation, as well as the governance of every moment of reality, existence, & the narrative. They can also script, remove, & manipulate the pages which are the canvas for the drawings, all moments of existence & the narrative resides on the pages.[1] Dr. Slump characters can become equivalent to the Author and in doing so are able to gain complete control of the narrative and it's characters, manipulate pages, and decide every event that occurs on them. They likely can replicate the Author's usage of Plot Manipulation as well.[76] The plot can create, control, & end abstract Beings.[107] Characters can decide when the plot starts.[40] Gatchan can forcibly override events, which is accomplished by skipping away from, transitioning to different moments, and eating the plot.[41] This can be anywhere between at least a few minutes in the future and a few days in the past. Characters can also use this effect to accomplish task that would take a long period of time in an instant.[41] The characters can change events, making it so things that happened didn't occur, as well as cause what didn't happened to occur.[40] The ideas Dr. Slump characters have can change the narrative, having them become the main character, have the plot revolving around them, add and remove aspects of characters, and the story begins and ends exactly how they want it.[40][108] Dr. Slump characters are capable of altering and removing the roles that characters occupy within the plot. In doing so, everything the character would have experienced and achieved will be altered to whatever the new role is assigned to.[98] Dr. Slump characters can stop or end the plot,[109] as well as restart the plot if those effects are applied.[110] The presence of Dr. Slump characters within any given story can alter its plot, changing the original contents of events.[54] Gatchan can create, destroy, and interact with text.[111])

Resistance to

  • Plot Manipulation, Reality Warping, Law Manipulation, Existence Erasure, Transmutation, Causality Manipulation, Fate Manipulation, Power Nullification, Mind Manipulation, etc. (Gatchan does not adhere to any storyline[7] & can resist the effects of manipulating drawings and the narrative, even from their own author. Senbei completely altered the narrative of Dr. Slump, overwriting the characters history and backstories when changing the story, however everyone was capable of resisting and ignoring his actions.[40] Toriyama had ended the narrative, which also erases the reality of Dr. Slump, however Gatchan was unaffected by this.[119] Toriyama was unable to erase the cast of Dr. Slump from the narrative, including Gatchan.[60] Characters have shown to be capable of still existing and being active after the ending of the plot and episode.[99] Gatchan can defy the script of events created by other characters and act outside the expectations the series created by them.[120] Gatchan was unaffected by the removal of herself along with portions of the narrative from points in the plot.[92][121] Gatchan can defy the script of events created by other characters and act outside the expectations the series created by them.[120] Gatchan can ignore predestined plotlines such as in the case with Toriyama, who had created and designed the narrative and events of the future world and yet when he went to the future. Nothing was as he had envisioned nor written and the events that transpired were unknown to him, despite him being the writer of the plot. The characters themselves refer to the narrative of Dr. Slump as something they're no longer bound nor apart of.[28] Gatchan can exist outside of the plot, in doing so they're unaffected by the narrative and what it dictates.[12])
    • Information Manipulation (Type 2) & Data Manipulation (Via Plot Manipulation; When Gatchan went into the world Dragon Quest V, which is made of data & information. Gatchan to have the ability to continue progressing and advancing without regard for the story nor its events limiting nor restricting them.[39] It was stated they were "ignoring the rules of the system". Which was propagated by having more companions than what is possible, maximizing all their stats to defeat the boss, and being compared to a game bug in the chapter.[39])
    • Nonexistent Erasure (Nature Type 1, Aspect Types 2; Concepts) (Unaffected by plot erasure, which can erase the World of Void,[113] a realm of eternal nothingness devoid of time and space,[113] the <Subspace> which is a dimensional world devoid of the concepts of time and space.[114])
  • Social Influencing & Madness Manipulation (Type 3) (Most of Penguin Village's residents were affected by a passive social influence. However, Gatchan wasn't affected and ignored it[49]. Every resident of Penguin Village is capable of passively inducing the effects of 'Nitwit Neurosis'. Which is a neurological disorder that eats away at one's intelligence and sanity, consequently reducing them into a state of madness and insanity. Gatchan is unaffected by this effect.[52])

  • Causality Manipulation (Mechapolis can rewind and undo every event that transpired on Mechapolis. Bringing everything right back to the beginning, as of nothing had ever happen.[72])

Attack Potency: Multi-Solar System level, likely Universe level+ (Has been shown to be comparable to Arale.[54] Furthermore, in some situations they have outperformed Arale.[134] Moreover, they have been stated to be stronger than Arale[157]), higher with Electric Blast (A volley of Arale's punches does absolutely nothing to a meteor, while a blast from her and Gatchan completely annihilated it[158]); Low Complex Multiverse level with Plot Manipulation (Gatchan's plot prowess is akin to that of Toriyama's,[12] making them able to create, manipulate, and even end the entire series. The narrative contains many worlds,[159] each of which has 5D timelines which are countless due to each timeline naturally existing for every day, hour, and minute that occurs in time, as well as each action in a timeline creates a new timeline meaning a timeline exists for every possible future.[145][27][160] They can also go beyond that realm's 4th Wall, being able to manipulate the pages & animation which contains the entire Dr. Slump & Dragon Ball reality.[92]); Can ignore durability with various abilities

Speed: Immeasurable (Gatchan is comparable to Arale and Turbo. Both of which can physically move through time.[161] They have physically moved throughout the narrative,[91] which holds different moments in time.[21][112])

Lifting Strength: Multi-Stellar (Has wrestled with Arale on multiple occasions.[54] Arale has overpowered & threw the Sun across the solar system.[36] Arale's feats of overpowering the Sun is despite the celestial body being able to physically move multiple solar systems at once.[162])

Striking Strength: Multi-Solar System level, likely Universe level+ (Has been shown to be comparable to Arale.[54])

Durability: Multi-Solar System level (Gatchan tanked an attack from Caramel Man 007. Who was strong enough to one shot Obotchaman and shatter Arale into multiple pieces.[134]). likely Universe level+ (Withstood the destruction and collapse of a pocket dimension, which contained a replica of the kai world from Dragon Ball.[124])

Stamina: Superhuman (Has survived in space for a month, during a hide and seek competition.[44])

Range: Standard Melee Range; Interplanetary with Electric Blasts; Interdimensional with various abilities; Low Complex Multiversal with Toon Force & Plot Manipulation; higher with 4th Wall Breaking

Standard Equipment: Almost whatever they want through Hammerspace, this includes her equipment.

Intelligence: Above Average (The Gatchans have displayed basic comprehension and understanding of human traits, customs, and norms. They're smart enough to pilot Spacecrafts,[58] as well. Gatchan was capable of sneaking into fully occupied room and remain there for several moments. Without being noticed nor detected even by beings like Toriyama. Who can predict and write all events that occur within the plot, being Nigh-Omniscience in the setting. ); Nigh-Omniscience via 4th Wall Breaking (Dr. Slump characters with metafictional awareness can assess[101] all events that has happed in the narrative. Including what has occurred in the past[98] & future.[18])

Weaknesses: Cant eat rubber.[47]

Attack Potency: At least Galaxy level, likely Universe level+, possibly Low Multiverse level (Gatchan scales above Caramel Man 007,[163] who blew Arale to multiple pieces.[164] Gatchan upscales from the events of Dr. Slump and has been portrayed as consistently comparable, if not stronger than Arale, throughout the series.[157] These instances of upscaling includes Arale going toe-to-toe with Caramel Man Z, the latest and most powerful robot of Mashirito. Who also became 10,000 times more powerful with the super battery,[165] Gatchan is comparable to the likes of Arale and Chivil who both could destroy the entire dimension of Hell in one clash of attack.[61] During Dragon Ball Super, Arale was recognized as being very powerful by Vegeta and casually defeated him in two blows. She also was also casually overwhelming Post Future Trunks Arc SSB Goku who admitted that not even he was sure could beat Arale.[3]), higher with Transformations & Electric Blast (Can turn into a Super Saiyan.[42] A volley of Arale's punches does absolutely nothing to a meteor, while a blast from her and Gatchan completely annihilated it.[158]); Low Complex Multiverse level with Plot Manipulation (Gatchan's plot prowess is akin to that of Toriyama's,[12] making them able to create, manipulate, and even end the entire series. Striking Strength: Galaxy level, likely Universe level+, possibly Low Multiverse level (Gatchan is comparable to Arale through out the Dr. Slump franchise. Who fought on par with post Future Trunks Arc Super Saiyan Blue Goku[3]. Arale also can harm Caramel Man Z with physical attacks.[165]), higher with Transformations (Can turn into a Super Saiyan.[42])

Durability: Galaxy level, likely Universe level+, possibly Low Multiverse level (Gatchan is comparable to Arale through out the Dr. Slump franchise. Who tanked attacks from Vegeta and fought on par with Super Saiyan Blue Goku[3]. Arale also withstood attacks from Caramel Man Z.[165] Furthermore, Gatchan was caught in a explosion created by Arale’s and Chivil’s attacks, which completely destroyed and collapsed the dimension of Hell.[61]), higher with Transformations (Can turn into a Super Saiyan.[42])

Stamina: Superhuman (Has survived in space for a month, during a hide and seek competition.[44])

Range: Standard Melee Range; at least Interdimensional, possibly Low Multiversal with energy attacks & various abilities; Low Complex Multiversal with Toon Force & Plot Manipulation; higher with 4th Wall Breaking

Standard Equipment: Almost whatever they wants through Hammerspace, this includes her equipment.

Including what has occurred in the past[98] & future.[18])

Weaknesses: Cant eat rubber.[47]

Notes

  • Dr. Slump character's Plot Manipulation & resistance towards it is layered. Which means conventional Plot Manipulation won't affect them. Furthermore, a conventional resistance will be overridden by them.
  • Both the Dr. Slump anime and manga are canon to each other, both sources interchangeably use Information from either side and have it connect and apply itself to the other.
  • Gatchan's powers and abilities can affect the author avatars who have Acausality Type 4, due to being entities that naturally exist outside the framework of narrative. Being independent of its flow of events and are unbound by the plot of stories.
  • Many other Toriyama stories are shown to be connected to Dr. Slump.
  • Dr. Slump shares a setting with Dragon Ball. This is due to the fact that in Dragon Ball Super episode 69, Senbei pulls out the original Dr. Slump manga and refers to how the events of said manga are canon to them. Arale herself recognized Goku, thus solidifying the events of their meeting each other in Dragon Ball. Moreover, in Dragon Ball Manga Chapter 81, Senbei states that it had been a while since he had appeared in Shōnen Jump, this statement would only make sense if he was referring to the events of Dr. Slump. Which is the only time he appeared in a Shōnen Jump manga, prior to Dragon Ball. Thus proving the events of Dr. Slump are canon to Dragon Ball.
