The Millennium Godzilla (ミレニアムゴジラ) is a kaiju that appeared in Godzilla 2000, Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla Tokyo SOS.
For the first incarnation of Godzilla to appear in the Millennium series. 2000 Godzilla first appeared sometime after the original Godzilla's demise in 1954, and continually menaced Japan over the years. During a confrontation with the JSDF in Tokai, Godzilla was attacked by a gigantic flying rock, which blasted him into the ocean with a powerful laser beam fired from a hole on its side. Yuji Shinoda, aided by his former colleague Shiro Miyasaka, analyzed some of Godzilla's discarded flesh, and discovered that his cells contained a substance they called Organizer G-1, which allowed his tissue to heal entirely within a matter of hours. They believed this discovery could revolutionize modern medicine and reveal the secret to immortality. Shinoda and Miyasaka also learned that the flying rock from earlier was actually an alien spaceship, whose occupants planned to harness the power of Godzilla's Organizer G-1 to adapt to Earth's atmosphere and establish a thousand-year empire. Godzilla returned for a rematch with the UFO in Shinjuku, where he was subdued and his Organizer G-1 was forcibly extracted. The aliens exited the UFO in a combined form, but the Organizer G-1 quickly overwhelmed them, mutating them into the monster known as Orga. Godzilla fought Orga, with his enemy's healing speed exceeding his own and rendering Orga nearly impossible to kill. Godzilla eventually allowed himself to be swallowed headfirst by Orga, who was attempting to engulf and fully assimilate him, only to unleash a powerful atomic shockwave that beheaded and killed Orga. With the alien invasion thwarted, Godzilla turned his rage on the rest of Tokyo, setting the city ablaze with his atomic breath.
For the second incarnation of Godzilla to appear in the Millennium series. This Godzilla first menaced Japan in 1954, after being roused from his ancient slumber by nuclear testing and venting his rage on Tokyo. Godzilla reappeared at various points in history to feed on Japan's energy sources, prompting the formation of an elite anti-Godzilla unit of the JSDF dubbed the G-Graspers. By 2001, the G-Graspers had constructed an artificial black hole gun called the Dimension Tide, planning to trap Godzilla in another dimension for eternity. Instead, the test-firing of the weapon unleashed a swarm of prehistoric dragonflies called Meganula, and their queen Megaguirus, who attained massive size by absorbing Godzilla's energy. Godzilla fought and killed Megaguirus, and was seemingly defeated afterward when the Dimension Tide was fired at him from point-blank range. However, it would turn out that Godzilla had not been sealed in another dimension, but simply escaped.
For the fourth incarnation of Godzilla to appear in the Millennium series of films. This Godzilla first appeared in 1999, 45 years after the first Godzilla was killed by Daisuke Serizawa's Oxygen Destroyer. His attack led the JSDF to begin arming itself against another attack. The JSDF salvaged the original Godzilla's skeleton from the sea floor and converted it into a bio-robot named Kiryu, which was sent into battle against Godzilla in 2003. Godzilla's roar reawakened the spirit of the first Godzilla within Kiryu, causing it to go berserk and turn against the JSDF. When Kiryu was repaired and battled Godzilla again, the two monsters fought to a draw and Godzilla was expelled from Japan. However, this Godzilla was attracted to Japan again by the presence of the first Godzilla's remains, and engaged in another battle with Kiryu the following year, this time with Mothra and her twin larvae aiding Kiryu. Godzilla was severely wounded by Kiryu, but rather than finish off his organic counterpart, Kiryu became possessed by the original Godzilla's spirit once again and sank itself with Godzilla in the Japan Trench, saving Godzilla's life and taking him far away from humanity.
