Character Stats and Profiles Wiki

In the past, we have encouraged users to create new pages for powers and abilities they thought the wiki lacked. However, as of now, we want new pages to be approved by the staff, meaning that new powers and abilities pages must be suggested. This can be done in our official Discord server in the suggestion channel, or messaged to a staff member. Of course, users can always create blogs about powers and abilities to include in their profiles if they don't want to attempt creating official pages. Linking to other wikis' powers and abilities pages is also permitted.

I love you, John. I never lied about that.
~ Shayera's last words before leaving the original Justice League

Summary[]

Born on Thanagar, Shayera Hol grew to be one of its' greatest warriors, and became engaged to her military superior, General Hro Talak. She seemed to be the perfect, belligerent, unfeeling Thanagarian warrior - that is, until she was sent to the Planet Earth as part of the preliminary stages of a plan to combat the Gordanians. Shayera spent five years on Earth, becoming the hero "Hawkgirl" and eventually becoming a founding member of the Justice League, developing romantic feelings for Green Lantern, another Leaguer. When Thanagar's forces came to Earth, Shayera initially allied with them once more before she learned that their plan to attack the Gordanians would mean the destruction of Earth, a world she had come to love, as well as her friends in the League. Upon learning of this, she turned on Thanagar, once more allying herself with the League and helping repel the Thanagarian Invasion, before quitting the League and entering self-imposed exile. A while later, after helping several members of the League (which had been expanded substantially following the Thanagarian Invasion) stop a resurrected Solomon Grundy, she would be reinstated into the League, though no longer operating under the codename Hawkgirl.

Powers and Stats[]

Tier: At least 9-A, possibly 8-C physically, High 6-A to 5-B with her Mace

Name: Shayera Hol, known as Hawkgirl by the people of Earth

Origin: DC Animated Universe

Gender: Female

Age: 20s - 30s (According to Dwayne McDuffie)

Classification: Thanagarian, Founding Member of the Justice League, Former Lieutenant of the Thanagarian Army

Powers and Abilities:

Attack Potency: At least Small Building Level, possibly Building Level physically (Knocked Copperhead out in a single punch, with Copperhead being strong enough to down Batman temporarily with a kick. Struggled evenly with Gorilla Grodd, who easily stomped Lex Luthor in a fistfight. Fought and knocked out gorillas with just her legs. Punched Arkkis Chummuck across a bar, sending him through a wall. Ragdolled a scavenger with a kick), possibly far higher (Staggered Wonder Woman with a kick), Multi-Continental to Planet Level with her Mace (Redirected a beam that had the power to destroy a planet - it's true that Nth metal is said to have “energy dampening properties” during Starcrossed, but in the DCAU the only energy it's shown to dampen is magic, with it never being even remotely implied that it negates or weakens non-magical energy it’s hit, such as Lantern Beams, beams from Brainiac drones, and the beam of Mongul's cannon - ergo, this feat should still scale to her swinging strength due to how open to interpretation Nth metal is in the DCAU, as “energy dampening” could, via Occam’s razor, very likely just be Paran Dul referring to how it interferes with Magical energy, something the Thanagarians are aware of and have defenses against due to their history with Icthultu, not a blanket statement that Nth metal dampens every form of energy. Even more consistently, Nth Metal in the main DC continuity is never noted to have any overall energy dampening, but specifically dampening of magic and magic alone - with us being given very little reason to believe that the DCAU would take such huge liberties in their adaptation of the material. Though certainly weaker than her teammates, with her mace she can still somewhat hold her own against enemies like a bloodlusted, mind-controlled Wonder Woman ("Grudge Match"), Star Sapphire ("Injustice for All"), Sinestro ("Secret Society"), a Lexo-suit wearing Lex Luthor ("Tabula Rasa"), Queen ("Wild Cards"), one of Lexiac's robots ("Divided We Fall"), etc. In addition, she could, despite not leaving any overt damage, cause Lobo a bit of pain with a mace strike to the top of his head, just barely divert attacks from Lexiac's tentacles and over the course of several attacks, manage to destroy one of them (these tentacles being capable of temporarily restraining a struggling Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter), knock over (though not actually damage) Darkseid with a mace strike, divert a strike from Luthor's mech, which one-shot her and thus should scale to her durability - in summary, she's certainly weaker than her League teammates (other than Batman), but not to such a great extent that she wouldn't share the High 6-A to 5-B scaling that they have (that is to say, she isn't a hundred or a thousand times weaker than them), independent of her planet-busting-cannon feat. During their bar fight midway through "In Blackest Night," she's strongly implied to be at least somewhat comparable to fodder Green Lanterns such as Gallius Zed and Arkkis Chummuck (whom she was confident in taking on, even with their rings), who by virtue of being Green Lanterns should scale to this feat, as well as this feat. One-shot a huge sea monster. Can smash Brainiac drones. Destroyed Imperium army ships with single attacks. Sent Grundy through a city street and into the sewer below. Tore through Vandal Savage's heavy gun. Her lower-ends (such as doing less damage to a robot than machine guns) are noted, but less consistent than higher ends and thus treated as outliers. See here for my reasoning as to why DCAU Superman is not Low Complex Multiversal), higher with Mace Throw (Her thrown mace, after she spun, broke the Lexo-suit's outer casing despite the fact that her swings couldn't so much as dent the suit)

Speed: Relativistic combat speed and reactions (Scales to many feats of characters reacting to, dodging and deflecting lantern beams (which move at the Speed of Light), such as keeping up with and parried attacks from a bloodlusted Wonder Woman, who moved this fast whilst deflecting Lantern Beams, keep pace with Hro Talak, who could react to and deflect Lantern Beams at close range after they were fired, as well as very consistently tag Shadow Thief, who could dodge lantern beams after they were fired. Speaking of her scaling to Wonder Woman's combat speed, the amazing Amazon was able to deflect both laser beams from Imperium Army Rifles as well as block Laser Beams from an Imperium army ship. Should be somewhat comparable in speed to Static, who reacted to and blocked a light-based laser after it was fired from close range. Swung her mace to deflect the beam from Mongul's planet-busting cannon as it came toward her, smacking it down - this beam would have traveled an interplanetary distance (to Draaga's planet) in what's strongly implied to be a somewhat short timeframe. Parried a bolt of lightning. Intercepted an ICBM in its terminal phase. Wove around machine gun fire while flying, and could also deflect it. Blocked two sword slashes from and landed a Mace Swing on Tsukuri, who could react to and slash at gunfire in midair. Possesses inhumanly quick reactions, according to Dwayne McDuffie. Has blitzed Killer Frost with attacks on two occasions, with Frost having quick enough reactions to react to and freeze fired arrows), possibly MFTL+ (It's possible that Lanterns' travel speed scales to their combat speed, though personally I've never seen any arguments for that which were nearly compelling enough for me to claim it's definitive), with Hypersonic+ flight speed (Caught up with an ICBM in its terminal phase, where their speeds approximate 7km/s, or Mach 20. Flew to intercept an artillery shell. Overtook a WW2 fighter plane) - though it does not seem entirely consistent with the rest of her speed scaling, it should be noted that Hawkgirl was capable of moving around in a dimension that was beyond space and time, which could be interpreted as Immeasurable speed.

Lifting Strength: At least Class 1, likely Class 5 (As a high-ranking Thanagarian, her lifting strength should approximate that of Batman’s, if not exceed it. Could struggle with a Brainiac drone - even a makeshift drone made on Earth could casually snap the Batrope. Struggled with Gorilla Grodd, who should be at least equal in strength to IRL gorillas. Swung Gorgon into the air by his tentacles, slamming him into a brick wall. Literally threw around Green Lanterns. Can lift and carry grown men with ease. In one instance, she cannot force open a helicopter door, but this is a rather obvious outlier), possibly Class 100 (Shayera could weapon-clash evenly with Hro Talak a few times, which would imply relative lifting strength - Hro Talak should be at least as strong as Warhawk, a half-Thanagarian in a similar physical condition, who could grapple evenly with Woof - Woof being able to overpower and press Batman II in a grappling exchange, who can demonstrate Class 100 lifting strength due to his strength-enhancing suit. However, at other points during their fight, Hro seems to be capable of soundly overpowering Shayera, implying he may have simply been holding back and thus Shayera may not scale to his LS. It also needs to be mentioned that Batman II's LS is extremely inconsistent and thus this is likely not a consistent scale for Thanagarian LS. She was capable of blocking a construct from Sinestro, but the scene itself makes it clear that Sinestro was casually holding Shayera back with this construct and simply using it as a distraction to hit her with a mace construct - thus, he was likely just toying with her and she wouldn't truly scale to his construct LS. Helped Wonder Woman push over a war wheel, but how much Shayera contributed here is difficult to determine)

Striking Strength: At least Small Building Class, possibly Building Class

Durability: Varies, at least Small Building Level, possibly Building Level (Shayera's durability is almost comically inconsistent, as in some instances she can be hurt and staggered by the likes of Black Canary or being slammed into a wall, and other times she can take hits from the verse's herald-tiers like Wonder Woman and Giganta. Even at her lowest ends, though, her durability should scale here due to Newton's third law as well as feats such as tanking this explosion. Being sent through a stone wall by a Manhunter only annoyed her), at most Multi-Continental to Planet Level (At her most durable, she can take several strikes from a bloodlusted Wonder Woman, as well as a slap from Giganta, who is Diana's physical rival)

Stamina: Superhuman (Referred to as “super-resilient” by Dwayne McDuffie right after he referred to her strength as “super” - ergo, context clues dictate he’s calling her stamina superhuman in the same way that her strength is. Kept walking and fighting after being stabbed through her wing, even enduring severe electrocution afterward and still being conscious. Was able to withstand an electrocution that knocked out the rest of the JL and attempt to escape, albeit this was made a bit easier because her Mace acted as a lightning rod. As a trained warrior, would naturally have been trained to fight intense battles for relatively long periods of time)

Range: Standard Melee Range physically and with her Mace, Tens of Meters via throwing her Mace (Can throw her mace tremendous distances), and Several Meters with Electricity Beams (Blasted books in Hades' library from a few meters away)

Standard Equipment:

  • Nth Metal Mace: A powerful mace composed of magic-dampening Nth metal. It can be electrified, shocking foes upon contact.

Optional Equipment:

  • Space Suit: A gold-and-silver space suit Shayera wears on space missions. The only advantage it appears to have is that it allows her to breathe in space.

Standard Tactics: Hawkgirl is an extremely belligerent fighter, undoubtedly the most belligerent of the original seven Leaguers and perhaps, of the JLU, only matched in her belligerence by the demon Etrigan. She generally opts to strike first without missing a beat, overwhelming her enemy with a ferocious assault - the primary examples of this being her bouts with Doctor Fate and Lex Luthor. She’s also not above attacking her enemies while they’re off guard - for example, she has taken the likes of Solomon Grundy, Metamorpho, and Green Lantern off guard, striking them with her mace.

Intelligence: Genius, if not Extraordinary Genius, with incredible combat prowess (Was one of the foremost warriors of Thanagar's army, and somewhat held her own against Hro Talak despite his far greater combat power, as shown when he easily dealt with Green Lantern earlier that same episode. According to Wonder Woman, often beat Batman at chess)

Weaknesses: Needs to breathe and eat.

Note: Bruce Timm has stated that the original DCAU tie-in comics are not canon, with the only tie in comics that have statements to the contrary (other than Batman: The Adventures Continue, which has so many continuity issues that it's essentially impossible to argue it's canon) being Justice League Infinity, the Batman and Harley Quinn tie in comics, and specifically the first annual of Batman Adventures. Ergo, I only consider those three comics canon.
