Summary[]
John Constantine is an occult detective from Liverpool, England. His violent and anti-social attitude makes him a formidable anti-hero, and he's known for doing whatever it takes to get the job done. He is a magician and the world's greatest con-artist.
John Constantine, is a working-class magician, occult detective, and con man. He is well-known for his scathing wit, endless cynicism, ruthless cunning, and constant chain smoking. A roguish counterculture anti-hero, Constantine is also a strident humanist driven by a heartfelt desire to defend mankind from the forces of evil.
John was born in Liverpool, but has spent most of his life growing up in London, from the sixties onward. He first left his father's house to live in a London squat aged fifteen. He is a natural born thrill seeker with hints of morality. Despite living in England for most of his childhood, Constantine has moved around the world on several occasions, following occult and mysticism all across the planet. He was born a twin, which he happened to strangle in the womb. His mother died in labor and his father blamed John for the death of his mother and that was the root to the friction between them. When not running away from home John Constantine was raised by his older sister Cheryl Masters.
Constantine is a chain smoker and has been from the very start of his characters introduction, his brand of choice is Silk Cut, though he has been seen smoking Marlboro or Camel’s from time to time, presumably when out of the country or when Silk Cut are unavailable. Despite being a chain smoker himself, Constantine does not take any other drugs, and once called his friend a “Dirty lowlife bastard” when he found a needle with a nondescript drug in it. John eventually moved in with roommate Chas Chandler, the two became best friends. Around this time John began following occult circles around London, and eventually became the magic using, demon tricking con artist he is today.

Synchronicity in magic is the belief the universe is guiding you. Resistance to Telepathy and Possession, Magic; Magic is creation itself. Manipulating magic is manipulating creation. You alter time and space, you warp reality, you make objects appear by pure force of will. It's a frequency that vibrates on every facet of existence. But there is no magic without belief. Belief is what allows the impossible to become possible. To allow something you believe come into fruition. You believe your power to be infinite, it will be more powerful. You believe magic has a cost, it will cost you. You make a coin disappear. You take a rabbit from a hat. You saw a lady in half. Is it magic or is it a trick? The trick is always to be learned. It is science. It is craft and skill. Then where is magic? The magic is in getting people to believe in another reality despite what they know to be true. That is where magic comes from. Belief. Superior to Phantom Stranger and Spectre who was stated to destroy all of creation if they fought. Doctor Fate also implied he could reverse the effects of Zero Hour, which was on a level comparable to Crisis on Infinite Earths. Doctor Fate is the strongest of the Lords of Order and is comparable to Lords of Chaos like Dominus and Mordru, who can effect infinite realities. Each universe was implied to contain an infinite number of heroes and concepts alike, as well as infinite higher spatiotemporal dimensions) | Outerverse level (Contended and tossed aside Blight, who was the embodiment of mankind's evil and was a threat to the Presence. | High Outerverse level (Scales above Zatanna who is superiorto Upside-Down Man. Was stated to be greater than the likes of Spectre. Destroyed Pralaya's mind, who destroyed all of creation and threatened to throw it into the Overvoid. Pralaya existed in the void before creation and exists beyond it. Can make incantations that probe the World Soul/The Soul of Creation. Superior to the likes of Hecate, in which his Synchronicity Wave has effected. Casually defeats and contends with angels, demons and platonic forms from the Sphere of the Gods. Platonic forms are inherently above the concepts of space, time, duality and causality as a whole. Was able to hold off the Great Darkness which existed before Presence's creation and defeated the likes of Etrigan, Doctor Fate, Phantom Stranger and the Spectre, who can destroy all Creation. Killed Zatara, Sargon, Anton Arcane and nearly killed Zatanna. Harmed Upside-Down Man with a God Spell. Upside-Down Man is an embodiment of the Great Darkness and is the concept of fear, sorrow and hate which mirrors off the hope, belief and possibility of magic from the Sphere of the Gods. He once blackmailed God and even tricked The Spectre himself.

Notes: It's important to establish a baseline for the terminology used when describing certain elements. "Creation" in this context is exclusively referring to everything up to the Source, as that is the immutable presupposition to take when dealing with that term. Also, when scaling certain characters above a certain level, it's vital to acknowledge how the DC cosmology functions, which substantiates placements and their transcendence over succeeding planes of existence. Realms like Limbo and Monitor Sphere are both High Outerversal realms as they act on a hierarchy of fictional transcendence over the below realms. Limbo views realms like the Sphere of the Gods and below as nonexistent fiction and transcends its infinite hierarchies such as infinite Heavens, Hells and Limbos. Monitor Sphere views realms like Limbo as minuscule and infinitesimal, where everything is more profound and meaningful. The Monitor Sphere is also a world of primal and more fundamental Platonic Forms, which would mean that the Sphere of Gods, which is already a Platonic Archetypal realm, "participates" in the Monitor Sphere. The cosmology functions on higher fictional transcendences over each realm, so that's where the scaling is derived from. Use these links as references.
It's also important to understand that the tier placement for John Constantine is situational, and he doesn't always exert this level of power. The justification for the tier placement is his ability to consistently contend with higher-dimensional beings that correlate with the logic of the cosmology as I established previously. John Constantine scales off of certain high-level magic users like Doctor Fate, Zatanna and Spectre, as well as scaling above other beings that normally contest or scale above Outerversal levels of powers. Constantine's power and the spells he casts also play a major factor in determining his overall power, as it is mainly situational.
Please do not attempt to alter this profile in any way without knowing proper context on certain levels of abilities and forces that directly correlate to the overall hierarchy of the DC Multiverse.
