Character Stats and Profiles Wiki

In the past, we have encouraged users to create new pages for powers and abilities they thought the wiki lacked. However, as of now, we want new pages to be approved by the staff, meaning that new powers and abilities pages must be suggested. This can be done in our official Discord server in the suggestion channel, or messaged to a staff member. Of course, users can always create blogs about powers and abilities to include in their profiles if they don't want to attempt creating official pages. Linking to other wikis' powers and abilities pages is also permitted.

remember, you are talking to the pranking MASTER.
~ John Egbert

changes are good! especially if you understand that's what's happening to you. i think that's how we grow and stuff. i think i've changed in a lot of ways. some ways that weren't easy.
~ John Egbert to Jake English

Summary[]

John Egbert is one of the main characters in Homestuck. Homestuck starts on the morning of his 13th birthday, on which he plays a game with his friends.

He is cheerful, mischievous, and endlessly idealistic. Considered a hopeless dork by most of his friends, John might be occasionally immature, but his optimism also helps him balance out his less stable friends.

Powers and Stats[]

Tier: At least 9-A, At least High 7-A, likely 6-C, possibly 1-A with Windy Powers | 1-A, Higher with "The Blackout"

Key: Base | God Tier

Name: John Egbert, "ectoBiologist/ghostyTrickster" (Screen Names), Zoosmell Pooplord (Initial joke title)

Origin: Homestuck

Gender: Male

Age: 13 (First Appearance), 16 (Act 6), 20 (Credits), 23 (Post Act 7)

Classification: Human, Sburb Player, Heir of Breath | God Tier, Manifestation of Narrative Agency

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Weapon Mastery (Became proficient in the use of hammers overtime, as per his assigned Strife Specibus), Acrobatics (Can leap vast heights and has performed successful back flips), Non-Physical Interaction (Sburb players can interact with ghosts, which aren't corporeal), Limited Cosmic and Fourth Wall Awareness (Can sometimes hear the narrative and notice phenomenon happening to the webcomic), Air Manipulation and Weather Manipulation (Can summon a massive windstorm that covers a planetoid, however, he can't utilize it consciounessly, requiring lots of pressure.), Acausality (Type 1, As a Paradox Clone, he was created by being copied from a different point in time and sent back in the past, creating a time loop), Accelerated Development (Levelling, Physical Statistics, Can ascend in his Echeladder just by doing random actions or slaying enemies, making him stronger and more durable with each rungs), Hacking (Has some knowledge in hacking), Resistance to Heat Manipulation (Comparable to Dave, who is unaffected by the immense temperatures of the Land of Heat and Clockwork, a land covered by a lava ocean, and all kids were fine riding on flaming meteors as babies. Comparable to Karkat who said that Dave's sun is pathetic and not hot enough to burn, despite it knocking MSPAReader out during a conversation), Limited Resistance to Plot Manipulation, Conceptual Manipulation (Type 1), and Mind Manipulation (Able to resist Andrew Hussie's influence)

Dimensional Storage with Sydallex, Summoning with Pendant, Healing with HBPAG, Flight with Rocket Pack, Limited Time Stop with Fear No Anvil (Anything that it hits is temporarily frozen in time), Damage Boost and Limited Resistance Negation (Can stop uranium imps in time with a charged slam, when they resist it's effects on normal hits, and said charged attack deals much more damage)

All previous abilities to a far greater extent, Enhanced Accelerated Development (Levelling, Physical Statistics and Abilities, God Tiers still level up through the Echeladder, but also gain small powers known as "achivement badges" over time, usually allowing to bypass one of Homestuck's rules), Enhanced Air Manipulation and Weather Manipulation (Possess full control over his classpect’s powers now, allowing him to summon gigantic windstorms, concentrated drilling tornados and more precise gusts of wind to move large objects), True Flight (God Tiers can fly), Immortality (Types 1, 4, and 8. God Tiers can live eternally), Resurrection (Due to his Conditional Immortality, John will always resurrect if his death isn't considered as Heroic or Just, healing any wounds, recovering his entire body and even soul from destruction), Forcefield Creation (Can envelope himself with wind to ward off attacks), Elemental Intangibility (Can transform into wind, becoming fully intangible) and potentially several other abilities (Pop-a-matic Vrillyhoo contains Vriska's Fluorite Octet, a set of 8 8-sided dices that cause effects unique to the rolls, of which there are 16,777,216 possible results, with the higher roles being the more devastating ones, and they are rolled whenever john directly strikes an enemy)

All previous abilities to an immensely greater extent, Teleportation, Time Travel, Dimensional Travel, Immersion, Space-Time Manipulation, Durability Negation and BFR (The Retcon Powers allows him to travel anywhere in the narrative, across space, time, non-existent places, others timelines and multiverses, places erased and recreated by the Scratch, in-verse fictional stories, metaphysical realms, as well as places outside of canon itself. The teleportation can also be oriented to specific people instead of places, and work even for places that he doesn't remember. Zapped Jade away against her will and can teleport other's body parts, separating them. This teleportation is considered to be spacetime manipulation), Limited Precognition (His powers give him some "Zap Sense", making him able to know what to do before something happens, albeit rarely), Enhanced Senses (Capable of seeing Stardust Glitches, which are corruptions in the narrative that were corroding the universe and beyond, which were completely invisible to other characters and incapable of being smelled by Terezi, who can smell "Ambiguous nexus of metaphysical realities" and Nonexistent Beings such as brain ghost dirk who’s completely fake without jake’s hope field), Extrasensory Perception (Felt the metatextual force of the Treasure's pull, could intuitively tell that he was in a void outside of canon, and retcon users have metatextual feelings about their powers), Acausality (Type 5; Is "unstuck in existence", unbound by the rules of Paradox Space, causality, and canon which even the Horrorterrors, who are untouched by the infinite hierarchy of higher causality, fate and plots controlling and being unbound by lower ones, are still part of, allowing him to fight against Lord English's and Paradox Space's influence), Enhanced Air Manipulation, Information Manipulation (Type 2), Reality Warping, Plot Manipulation, Void Manipulation, Probability Manipulation, Conceptual Manipulation (Type 1), Subjective Reality and Causality Manipulation (Retcon Powers can rewrite causality, not unlike the Scratch, allowing him to change the Alpha Timeline itself and even turning it into a doomed timeline if he retcons too many fundamental things, ending all of existence in a narrative paradox. Those powers allow him to bend reality to his whim, even if he is unaware of it, changing everything that ever happened and making other's lifes better or worse, His actions can authenticate and alter canon itself, which is composed of Truth, Relevancy and Essentiality, including all ideas, people and their full potentialities, possible outcomes and their specific unfolding, with non-canon things being conceptually unravelled and forgotten by existence as a notional fading. As a retcon user, he is filled with metatextual energy, originating from the Treasure and his powers, turning him into a manifestation of narrative agency, freeing him from the confines of the story and allowing him to fight against the forces of inevitability, which are that of narrative authority. His retcons can affect himself and his own retcons despite his resistances. Can clear up Stardust Glitches, which are glitches in the fabric of the story by using his windy powers), Fate Manipulation (His actions can change the forces of destiny, which make the universe change its very fabric to correspond to this. It can also "change stuff that isn't supposed to be changed" like immutable events or cosmic constants, turning the effects of his actions into "the stuff that's supposed to happen", altering the alpha timeline itself, which dictates predestined events. He can do it either by doing his own actions or potentially by willing it), Resistance to Plot Manipulation, Reality Warping, Information Manipulation (Type 2), Space-Time Manipulation, Memory Manipulation, Fate Manipulation, Causality Manipulation, Law Manipulation and Probability Manipulation (As a Retcon user, he is unaffected by Stardust Glitches, which are literal glitches in reality that were corrupting the plot, making things existentially inscrustable, blocking access to parts of the comic and making characters forget certain memories. He's freed from the confines of the story and it's cyclical, fatalistic nature, allowing him and his friends to fight against the forces of inevitability, which are that of narrative authority. He is unbound by the ties of causality, as well as not fully a part of reality nor bound by the rules of Paradox Space), Existence Erasure (Endured several days while Lord English's poison was erasing him from existence), Subjective Reality and Conceptual Manipulation (Type 1, John's existence transcends canon itself, which is composed of Truth, Relevancy and Essentiality, including all ideas, people and their full potentialities, possible outcomes and their specific unfolding, with non-canon things being conceptually unravelled and forgotten by existence in a notional fading. Survived a bite from Lord English, who can create cracks in the furthest ring which distorts the aspects, of which all concepts come from, with his roar and is implied to be able to do it with his physical strikes. Survived his Poison for several days, which is a metaphysical attack that damages the core of your being, destroys narrative relevancy and dissolutes one’s canonical existence)

Attack Potency: At least Small Building level (Can fight with Ogres, who are the size of small houses, before growing immensely stronger and adquiring more powerful weapons), At least Large Mountain level, likely Island level, possibly Outerversal with Windy Powers (Created a storm that enveloped the surface of the Land of Wind and Shade, putting down Bec's Green Sun fire) | Outerversal (Unleashed a massive gust of win that spanned the entire website and blew away the stardust glitches, which were corrupting the fabric of the furthest ring and the narrative. Capable of fighting against Bec Noir, managing to parry his sword strikes and knock the sword out of his hands, before inflicting moderate damage to his health vial by striking the Pop-a-matic Vrillyhoo Hammer into his head. First Guardians are gateways to all the energy of the Green Sun and can "unleash it's full fury", with the Green Sun being the largest source of raw narrative mass in the multiverse and a significant part of Alternate Calliope's ability to punch a hole in her multiversal black hole. Bec Noir is stronger than Doc Scratch, who altered the website, affecting the void outside of canon and has the powers of the author. Knocked Aranea out with a single punch and later Beat Caliborn almost to death with his hands. Managed to fight for a while with Post-Masterpiece Caliborn who has the power to destroy everything forever. Able to hold back a weakened Lord English with a windstorm, and staggered him with a hammer attack, who could cause cracks in Paradox Space by roaring), Higher with "The Blackout" (By retconning too many events and creating inconsistencies through the canon, John can create a "narrative paradox" so great that it would destroy everything, turning canon into utter ruin, to the point of worrying Ultimate Dirk and The Director. It was stated that this event was even more catastrophic than the Scratch)

Speed: Supersonic+ (Comparable to the other Beta Kids) | Immeasurable (As quick as the other God Tiers such as Dave and Rose, who could travel from the core of the Green Sun to its surface, with the Green Sun being larger than a Genesis Frog. Can keep up with Bec Noir, who is able to travel across the Furthest Ring, a void where all concepts and aspects are mixed with each other, requiring the mastery over the flow of time in order to properly navigate it as, normal travel could result in you travelling backwards or fowards in time or hitting youself through space, and time travel risks sending you millions of light-years away. Can keep up with a weakened Lord English, who was quick enough to blitz an off-guard Rose moments prior. Blitzed Jade and zapped her away before she could do anything about it. Wandered around the entire circuference of Alternate Calliope's black hole in a few hours, which was the "size of eternity" and large enough to contain a multiverse, after it expanded enough to destroy and eat the entire Furthest Ring, which is a infinite void that contains all meta-rivers and Genesis Frogs. Cleared Stardust Glitches from Rose's planet, which are glitches in the fabric of the narrative, by transforming into wind and moving outside of the comic panels)

Lifting Strength: Superhuman (Can jump high while wielding large hammers), Class G with Air Manipulation (Moved this much wind) |Immensurable (His windstorms are strong enough to hold back Lord English and he managed to hold into his hammer as Lord English swallowed it, comparable to Davepetasprite^2, who managed to pull John out of Lord English's bite while ripping his tooth off. Briefly resisted the metatextual pull of the Treasure, which was more overpowering than a singularity, as it overwrote his strength to resist it. His wind can push away Stardust Glitches, which corrupted the narrative.)

Striking Strength: At least Small Building level | Outerversal (He is strong enough to inflict damage to Bec Noir's health by hitting him with his hammer. His punches carry enough force to one-shot God Tiers like Aranea, and his hammer-strikes using a rather weak hammer are still powerful enough to stagger Lord English)

Durability: At least Small Building level | Outerversal (Exchanged hits with Bec Noir, parrying his sword strikes and pushing him back, enduring the recoil of his own attacks. Able to withstand a bite attack from a weakened Lord English, with one of his teeth breaking off in the process)

Stamina: High (Can battle with hordes of enemies for long periods without getting tired, as well as endure large amounts of punishment from foes considerably stronger than himself and quickly get back on his feet) | Immensely High (Can battle powerful enemies while spamming his Wind abilities. Persisted several days while Lord English's poison was erasing him from existence and even managed to teleport himself, Terezi and a car from blankspace into Earth C after several days with the poison, flew around Alternate Calliope's black hole, which was as wide as eternity and a multiverse, while impaled by the poisoned tooth.)

Range: Standard Melee Range, Extended Melee Range with Equipment, up to Hundreds of Kilometers with Windy Powers (Released a windstorm that covered the entire Land of Wind and Shade, which is stated to be the size of Rhode Island or Connecticut) | Extended Melee Range via Hammers, Outerversal with Windy Powers (Cleaned up the Stardust Glitches, which John stated were affecting the whole universe, perhaps even more than that, affecting the Furthest Ring and corrupting the narrative itself), Retcon Powers (Able to go anywhere in and out of canon across all time and space) and "The Blackout" (Would've ripped all of existence apart)

Standard Equipment: His Sylladex, Pendant, Hellacious Blue Phlegm Aneurysm Gushers, Rocket Pack, and Strife Specibus.

Intelligence: Above Average (He is by far one of the most inventive of the main characters; from the beginning, he shows more innovative prowess in combining objects than everyone else, demonstrating his great creativity even before the introduction of the Alchemiter with his poster-nailing and harlequin-funniness-amplifying abilities. In combat, he has shown to have excellent control in the handling of hammer weapons, being able to battle with foes as formidable as Bec Noir. Over time, he has acquired a perfect level of control over his Aspect, being able to influence and transform into the Breath itself)

Weaknesses: Highly allergic to peanuts, and is excessively naive and gullible, with this flaw having led to his death in an alternate timeline. | None notable.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

God Tier: As a player of Sburb, John can ascend and become a deity if he dies on his Quest Bed. Out of the fourteen possible Classes and twelve possible Aspects, John was given the position of the "Heir of Breath".

  • Breath: As a Heir of Breath, John is capable of influencing his aspect. Breath is connected to Freedom, Flight and Flow, allowing John to manipulate the air itself. He’s capable of large-scale influence by creating windstorms covering whole planetoids and concentrated tornado drills, however, he is also capable of precise manipulation, coating objects with air in order to move them, creating barriers of wind around him and even making sure his windstorms don’t target his allies. Above all else, he possess the ability to completely turn into air itself, either by instinct or at will, making him immune to physical attacks and being hard to perceive even to those with enhanced senses. It is implied that the wind which Breath players like john control, called THE BREEZE, is a self-consciousness force in the form of air, responsible for LOWAS’ mailing system and john’s wind form being hard to be found by canine sense of smell.
  • Conditional Immortality: As a God Tier, John has the power to always resurrect from death as long as it is not considered Heroic (Meaning he died in a heroic manner, such as sacrificing himself for someone else) or Just (Meaning his death was well-deserved due to horrible actions), as such he can't have a pointless death.
  • Retcon Mechanics: After sticking his hand in Caliborn’s Treasure, john became unstuck from existence and the laws that dictate events and canon itself, allowing him to teleport through all of time and space, including alternate multiverses, erased timelines, fictional movies, metaphysical places and even outside of all of canon. Thanks to this ability, john’s actions and intents are capable of changing reality in order to rewrite the narrative and defy inevitable events, working as an automatic side-effect of whatever physical intervention he does. This state of existence also affects his Heir of Breath abilities, allowing the wind he summons and even the one he transforms into blow away glitches in the structure of reality while he moves beyond the comic pages.

Strife Specibus: John's Strife Specibus is Hammerkind, and grants him access to a collection of hammers.

  • Pogo Hammer: The first weapon that John alchemizes, the Pogo Hammer is a combination of a simple claw hammer and John's Green Slime Ghost Pogo. By rhythmically bouncing back and forth using it, John can increase his power and speed, and he can use it to traverse gaps by hitting the ground with it hard enough.
  • Wrinklefucker: The upgraded form of John's Pogo Hammer, this weapon is a combination of the Pogo Hammer and an iron. It is much more controlled and far more powerful than the Pogo Hammer.
  • Telescopic Sassacrusher: A combination of a sledgehammer, the hilariously oversized Sassacre Text, and a telescope. It is far too heavy for base John to lift, so he uses his Remote Ghost Gauntlets to lift it instead.
  • Fear No Anvil: An extremely powerful weapon which Davesprite stole from Hephaestus. It has limited time stop capabilities; anything that it strikes is temporarily frozen in time for aproximatelly 10 seconds.
  • Warhammer of Zillyhoo: This mighty hammer is one of the seven legendary weapons of Cherubim folklore, and represents its namesake continent. It cost one zillion Zillium grist.
  • Pop-a-matic Vrillyhoo Hammer: John's final and most powerful hammer, capable of defeating the strongest opponent he has faced in combat so far, barring Bec Noir and possibly Typheus, in a single hit. It was presumably alchemized from the Warhammer of Zillyhoo and Vriska's Fluorite Octet. When the hammer strikes someone, the dice in the mechanism are rolled, and something special happens based on the results of the roll. When it was used against Bec Noir, it gave him a Ridiculous Hat.
