Character Stats and Profiles Wiki

In the past, we have encouraged users to create new pages for powers and abilities they thought the wiki lacked. However, as of now, we want new pages to be approved by the staff, meaning that new powers and abilities pages must be suggested. This can be done in our official Discord server in the suggestion channel, or messaged to a staff member. Of course, users can always create blogs about powers and abilities to include in their profiles if they don't want to attempt creating official pages. Linking to other wikis' powers and abilities pages is also permitted.

Knuckles the Echdidna
Main Continuity

Angel Island. A land of miracles. Of mysteries. My home. I am its guardian. I watch over the Master Emerald and every living thing here... Any other kind of civilization is long since disappeared from the island. I do things on my own and that's just how I like it. I don't need anyone else to get by. But sometimes... I wonder how things would be if I hadn't been given this responsibility. Why was I chosen for this duty? Perhaps it's karma...
~ Knuckles' narration during the Divergence Prologue.

We're fighting to get our world back now. Don't stop, don't look back! Just focus on the task ahead no matter what! Let's do this, everyone!! CHARGE!!!
~ Knuckles instructing the Resistance.

Time for a Knuckles sandwich!
~ Knuckles taunting the opposing team, Sonic Heroes

The servers are... the seven Chaos. Chaos is... power. Power is enriched by the heart. The controller is the one who unifies the chaos. Only you can do this. Stop the Chaos Emeralds!
~ Knuckles pleading with the Master Emerald

Summary[]

Knuckles the Echidna, or simply Knuckles is a major supporting character in the Sonic the Hedgehog video game franchise. He is the last remaining members of the Knuckles Clan and is the current guardian of the Master Emerald, a powerful and ancient relic which Knuckles is steadfast in his duty to protect from those seeking to abuse its power. Knuckles would eventually come into contact with Dr. Robotnik who would trick Knuckles into believing that Sonic and Tails were attempting to use the Master Emerald for ill will. Knuckles would come to see Dr. Eggman for who he really was, joining Sonic and Tails in thwarting the mad doctor and in the process making a new ally and rival in Sonic.

Knuckles' personality contrasts that of Sonic, he is a loner by nature, often prioritizing his duty in guarding the Master Emerald whilst Sonic can never seem to stand still. Whilst Sonic is the wind blowing free, Knuckles is the immovable mountain, often being referred to as the mountain to Sonic's wind. Whilst Knuckles isn't stupid, he is shown to have gullible tendencies, occasionally falling for Eggman's schemes. Despite this, Knuckles possesses a good and noble heart that is willing to stand up to those who threaten the world.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Spin Dash: Knuckles can curl in a ball and rev up quickly to plow down enemies or go through tight spaces, even being able to perform a similar technique while on the wall. While often performed when stationary, Knuckles can perform the ability quickly and while in the midst of combat.[29]
  • Homing Attack: Knuckles can do an aerial version of his Spin Dash and home in on a target; he can then either repeatedly strike a single target or chain across several different targets.
  • Punch Attack: Knuckles' triple punch combo.
  • Drill Claw: The Drill Claw allows Knuckles to drill through the ground.
  • Maximum Heat Knuckles Attack: Knuckles strikes his enemies with a high-speed homing attack after charging his power. The attack is reminiscent of that of the Light Speed Attack that was created by Sonic.
  • Thunder Arrow: Knuckles summons lightning bolts to strike his target.
  • Knuckles Slam: When executing the move, Knuckles jumps into the air and says "Knuckle Slam" while charging up energy. He then punches the ground with his fists, creating a large column of red energy. After this, a red field made of bursts of fire and minor exploding shockwaves surrounds Knuckles.

A moveset by those who appear in Sonic Battle.[30]

  • Move
    • Dashing Skill: A technique used for quick movement in any direction, the Knuckles Dash is performed by the echidna forcing his body in a certain direction and leaning forward.
    • Jumping Skill: Thanks to his experience as a treasure hunter, Knuckles Jump allows him to maneuver quickly while performing a jump.
    • Air Action: His Grinder Attack allows Knuckles to damage opponents using his glide.
    • Bold
    • Guard Skill: Using Knuckles Guard, Knuckles blocks attacks using earth elementals.
    • Heal Skill: With Knuckles Heal, the echidna uses earth elementals to heal damage he sustained.
  • Attack
    • Heavy Attack: A skill specialized in knocking the opponent a way, the Megaton Hook is a hook punch that causes Knuckles to swiftly spin 360° while delivering it.
    • Upper Attack: A skill specialized in knocking the opponent upwards, Knuckles swings both of his fists upwards to perform Enrage and launch the enemy into the air to leave them vulnerable to follow-up attacks.
    • Dash Attack: Knuckles performs a double straight punch referred to as the Double Punch, an attack he can perform while using his Dashing Skill.
    • Air Attack: While in the air, Knuckles performs the Knuckles Air Hook to launch a downward-swinging hook.
    • Pursuit Attack: Often preceded by Knuckles launching himself in a diagonal jump towards his opponent in the air (though it can be performed on a grounded target), Knuckles then performs the Meteor Punch by swinging downwards at his opponent with both fists to slam them downwards.
    • Ground Shot: Serving as a longer-range means of attack, the Rock Free Fall allows Knuckles to unearth a massive rock before launching it at his opponent.
      • Air Shot: A longer-ranged attack while in the air, Knuckles performs Meteor Crush by using the supernatural power of the earth to make rocks fall from the sky.
    • Ground Power: A technique meant to deal exceptional damage while close to an enemy, Deep Impact has Knuckles performing such a vigorous and powerful straight punch that it causes an explosion.
      • Air Power: Meant to deal exceptional damage while close to an enemy in the air, Knuckles performs Major Eruption by burrowing himself into the ground with a Spin Attack before eventually launching an uppercut from underneath.
    • Ground Trap: Knuckles' trap, the Mole Bomb, allows him to plant a bomb that burrow itself into the ground and becomes undetectable.
  • Others
    • Strength Support: Strength Support 3 is a passive ability that is said to reinforce internal defenses, reducing the amount of damage Knuckles receives.
    • Attack Support: Attack Support 8 is a passive ability that is said to increase attacking power, increasing the amount of damage Knuckles outputs.
    • Support of Others: Meant to strengthen a character's miscellaneous traits or abilities, Knuckles' Trounce Support gives the echidna the passive benefit of increasing the rate which his Ichikoro Gauge is filled.

Tag Actions (タッグアクション, Taggu Akushon) are unique moves that Amy receives when teamed up with a partner, mostly differing depending upon whether it's done on solid ground or while in the air. When performing a Tag Action, her partner will perform a Spin Jump into her arms before it's performed.[17]

Wisps are a sentient race of aliens, a large portion of them deciding to reside upon Sonic's planet after being saved by him due to taking a liking to Earth. Also referred to as Color Powers when their energy is being harnessed, they provide Knuckles with an array of powers and abilities to utilize.

  • Cyan Laser: Using the power of a Cyan Wisp, Knuckles transforms into a cyan laser beam. As the Cyan Laser, Knuckles gains the same properties as that of a real laser, allowing him to move as a living beam of light. When hitting any surfaces as the Cyan Laser, Knuckles can also bounce off them as if they were a reflective surface.
  • Indigo Asteroid: Using the power of an Indigo Wisp, Knuckles turns into an orb-shaped body with striped indigo skin and a matching planetary ring encircling his middle. As the Indigo Asteroid, Knuckles essentially becomes a miniature planet with a strong gravitational field. Knuckles is as such capable of creating a powerful gravitational pull around himself, strong enough to tear all kinds of objects to pieces and pull them into the Asteroid Ring. Additionally, the gathered matter can be used to empower the gravitational pull. The Indigo Asteroid also grants Knuckles the ability to levitate through midair.
  • Yellow Drill: Using the power of a Yellow Wisp, Knuckles turns into a yellow spiral drill. As the Yellow Drill, Knuckles can burrow and tunnel underground at remarkably high speeds and can be applied underwater, allowing Knuckles to move through the water like a living torpedo.
  • Jade Ghost: As the Jade Ghost, Knuckles can turn himself invisible and enables him to move around without being visibly detected by opponents. The Jade Ghost also makes Knuckles intangible, thus allowing him to pass through obstacles and avoid unwanted attacks. Additionally, the Jade Ghost allows Knuckles to hover slightly above ground when using its power.

  • Gliding Shock Wave Attack: Hyper Knuckles hits a surface while gliding, causing an earthquake that destroys everything within range.
