Character Stats and Profiles Wiki

In the past, we have encouraged users to create new pages for powers and abilities they thought the wiki lacked. However, as of now, we want new pages to be approved by the staff, meaning that new powers and abilities pages must be suggested. This can be done in our official Discord server in the suggestion channel, or messaged to a staff member. Of course, users can always create blogs about powers and abilities to include in their profiles if they don't want to attempt creating official pages. Linking to other wikis' powers and abilities pages is also permitted.

This is how I'll always remember you. Surrounded by winter. Forever young. Forever beautiful. Rest well, my love. The monster who took you from me will soon learn that revenge is a dish best served cold.
~ Mr. Freeze

Summary[]

Victor Fries, a brilliant cryogenic scientist, lived a happy, idyllic life with his loving wife Nora - until tragedy struck. Nora came down with a terminal disease, and Fries resolved to use the resources of Gothcorp (the company he worked for) to cryogenically preserve his beloved wife until a cure for her condition could be found. His corrupt boss, Ferris Boyle, caught him preserving his wife with the company's resources, and a fight broke out, resulting in Fries being doused in many of the chemicals he was using for his experiments with Cryogenics. These chemicals altered Fries' body until he could not survive outside of sub-zero temperatures. Furious at Boyle, Fries built a suit that not only kept his body at sub-zero temperatures but also greatly increased his strength - as well as a revolutionary laser-powered gun which instantly froze anything its beam touched solid - both developed in order to help Fries exact his revenge on Boyle. Becoming the supervillain Mister Freeze, Fries would clash with Gotham's protector Batman many times over the years.

Powers and Stats[]

Key: Batman: The Animated Series - Batman and Mr. Freeze: Sub-Zero | The New Batman Adventures - Batman and Harley Quinn Tie-in Comics | Batman Beyond

Tier: At least 9-A, possibly 8-C physically, higher with his Cold Gun, 7-C to 7-A with Preparation | At least 9-A physically, higher with his Cold Arm Cannons

Name: Victor Fries, known as Mister Freeze

Origin: The DC Animated Universe

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown, most likely 40s - 50s during BTAS and TNBA. By the time of his appearance in Batman Beyond, he is chronologically much older, but physically hasn’t aged a day.

Classification: Human

Powers and Abilities:

In his first two keys, Freeze boasts:

With Optional Equipment, he can utilize:

In his Batman Beyond appearance, he retains his prior abilities, possibly sans Immortality and Self-Sustenance due to his transplant into another body.

Attack Potency: At least Small Building Level, possibly Building Level physically (Overtly stronger than Batman, easily tossing him and restraining him with one arm. Effortlessly kicked locked doors off their hinges. Grant Walker, while wearing a replica of Freeze's suit, bent a metal operating table with a punch), at least Small Building Level+, likely higher with his Cold Gun (Its feat of freezing a garage door was calculated at Small Building Level+, but it's likely higher considering how quickly it caused this level of ice buildup and froze a submarine and its crew during Sub-Zero), Varies with Preparation, from at least City Block Level (His massive Cold Gun from "Heart of Ice" would have frozen the Gothcorp skyscraper), up to Large Town Level to Large Mountain Level (Grant Walker's gigantic cold gun would have frozen all of the world's municipalities over several years, scaling it to this calc - this is even further confirmed by the fact that the cannon's core overloading almost instantly froze over the city of Oceania) | At least Small Building Level, possibly Building Level physically (Confirmed to be more powerful than his B:TAS iteration, likely owing to his new suit. Overpowered Batman in a confrontation, ragdolling him with attacks. Shattered a stone wall and embedded his fist in metal with a punch), at least Large Building Level with his Cold Gun (Should be at least equal to his prior Cold Gun. Flash-froze a dinosaur skeleton, requiring energy equivalent to 9.6 tons of TNT), and Town Level to Mountain Level with Preparation (His reverse-fusion bomb would have frozen everything in a ten mile radius (which would be sections of Gotham), scaling it to about 12.5% of this calc) | At least Small Building Level, possibly Building Level physically (His Beyond suit shouldn't be weaker than his TNBA suit, considering it's implied to have been built after said suit), at least Large Building Level with his suit's freezing blasts (Shouldn't be any weaker than his prior suit's Cold Gun blasts. Created a humongous mass of ice almost instantly. Sent Blight flying, slamming him through what seems to be a stone wall. Pushed away a falling metal scaffolding)

Speed: Hypersonic, possibly Relativistic or higher combat speed and reactions (Fought a serious Batman, grabbing him too quickly for him to dodge - Batman can dodge the Cold Gun's laser. Reacted to and braced himself for a kick from an enraged Dick Grayson. Reacted to Batman's thrown Batarang and blasted it with his Cold Gun), Speed of Light attack speed with his Cold Gun (His cold gun is confirmed to be laser-powered, implying the beam from the gun itself is a laser imbued with freezing properties) | Hypersonic, possibly Relativistic or higher combat speed and reactions (Tagged a serious Batman with a punch and a grab in their second fight and rushed him during Batman: Vengeance), Speed of Light attack speed with his Cold Gun (We're given no reason to believe this Cold Gun functions differently from the first one) | Hypersonic, possibly Relativistic or higher combat speed and reactions (Shouldn't be any slower than his previous suits, considering it's implied to be the last one he ever built), Speed of Light attack speed with his suit's freezing blasts (His new suit's cold beams are never stated to be laser-powered like his prior cold guns, but we're never given reason to assume they work differently)

Lifting Strength: At least Class 1, possibly Class 5 (Stronger than Batman, who scales to characters who can lift and throw steel girders, struggle with a polar bear, snap a man's neck with ease, etc. Broke the BTAS Batrope just by flexing. Casually lifted Batman, Robin, and a large mass of ice. Can easily lift grown men into the air with one arm) | At least Class 1, possibly Class 5 (Should not be weaker than his first suit. Can lift large cryogenic chambers) | At least Class 1, possibly Class 5 (His Beyond suit shouldn't be weaker than his TNBA suit, considering it's implied to have been built after said suit)

Striking Strength: At least Small Building Class, possibly Building Class | At least Small Building Class, possibly Building Class | At least Small Building Class, possibly Building Class

Durability: At least Small Building Level, possibly Building Level (So durable that Batman cannot hurt him, even in his BTAS suit. Should be capable of withstanding his own attacks due to Newton's third law of motion) | At least Small Building Level, possibly Building Level (Scales to his own AP as per Newton's Third Law. A serious Batman's punch literally bounced off of Mr. Freeze's helmet, not budging him whatsoever) | At least Small Building Level, possibly Building Level (Shouldn't be any less durable than his TNBA suit, considering it's implied to have been built after said suit)

Stamina: At least Average Human, possibly Superhuman in every key (Is essentially immortal, and never seems even slightly fatigued during any of his fights)

Range: Standard Melee Range physically, at least Several Meters if not Tens of Meters with his Cold Gun (Froze a scaffolding from across the room), and Planetary with Grant Walker’s Cannon (Would have eventually frozen over all of civilization) | Standard Melee Range physically, at least Several Meters if not Tens of Meters with his Cold Gun (The beam of his gun is often depicted as stretching across rooms to hit its target, such as his attempts to freeze Batgirl during "Cold Comfort" from across Wayne Manor's living room), and up to Kilometers with his Reverse Fusion Bomb (Would have frozen everything in a ten-mile radius) | Standard Melee Range physically, and Tens of Meters with Arm-Mounted Cold Guns (The beam of his Cold Guns stretched across a large room to hit Blight)

Standard Equipment:

  • Cryo-Suit: A suit that keeps Fries' body at a sub-zero temperature at all times, as well as enhancing his strength beyond human limits. The BTAS and TNBA suits are basically identical in function, and the Beyond suit is very similar as well, only being differentiated by the fact that said suit has cold guns incorporated into its gauntlets.
  • Cold Guns: Blasters that fire a laser that freezes things upon contact. During Batman Beyond, these blasters are incorporated into his suit's gauntlets.
  • Optional Equipment:
  • Reverse Fusion Bomb: A large bomb capable of freezing everything in a ten mile blast radius.
  • Polar Bears: Two polar bears who follow his commands, shown in Batman & Mr. Freeze: Sub-Zero.
  • Helicopter: Self-explanatory, shown here.

Intelligence: At least Genius, if not Extraordinary Genius (Invented his cold gun and his sub-zero suit complete with a strength-amplifying cybernetic processor. Figured out how to keep Nora Fries in suspended animation for over a year. Was one of Gothcorp's most brilliant scientists and cryogenic researchers)

Standard Tactics: Generally goes to restrain foes' body parts via freezing or just plainly freeze their entire body.

Weaknesses: Without his suit, he cannot survive in above sub-zero temperatures.

Note: Bruce Timm has stated that the original DCAU tie-in comics are not canon, with the only tie in comics that have statements to the contrary (other than Batman: The Adventures Continue, which has so many continuity issues that it's essentially impossible to argue it's canon) being Justice League Infinity, the Batman and Harley Quinn tie in comics, and specifically the first annual of Batman Adventures. Ergo, I only consider those three comics canon.
