NiGHTS (ナイツ Naitsu) is the titular protagonist of the NiGHTS franchise published and developed by Sega. NiGHTS is a "Nightmaren" who resides in Nightopia, a world where the dreams of all human beings are acted out every night. Created by Wizeman to serve under him, NiGHTS rebelled against his creator and became a benevolent being.

Should NIGHTS fly in a circle in an area drawn by twinkle dust from his hands, they'll create a hole in space, destroying all enemies within the area)
- Portal Creation and BFR (NIGHTS can open portals and send people to other dimensions using Paraloops, transported Helen from her dream world to one of Will's and sending Sonic's dream avatar into different nightmares (dream worlds) made by Wizeman, NiGHTS is capable of doing this with their equivalent Paraloop ability to send Nightmarens and transport them to a different dream world with a rainbow colored portal)

Note: The English voice acting dub for the Japanese version of NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, known as Naitsu: Hoshifuru Yoru no Monogatari (Nights: The Story of a Starry Night), is equally as important to the story as the Japanese subtitles used, as the English voice acting is stated to tell the story in cutscenes by Takashi Iizuka and didn't have a Japanese dub utilized for the game, only English voice acting was utilized for the dub for the Japanese version. Therefore, all lines cited here using the subtitles from the English (North American) version are exactly the same lines used in the Japanese version's English dub. NiGHTS Dream Wheel is an officially licensed game themed on the original game NiGHTS into Dreams and as such is acceptable as being accurate to the original game. Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed had direct input from Iizuka to make sure "NiGHTS was used the appropriate way" and that NiGHTS presentation was "capturing the spirit of the original game" when the developers were making "NiGHTS work as a vehicle" and as such is acceptable as being accurate to the original game. Sonic Riders & Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity was created by Sonic Team and NiGHTS from NiGHTS into Dreams makes a guest appearance from their game series during the game according to the Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia and as such is acceptable as being accurate to the original game. Sega Superstars Tennis has the same NiGHTS from NiGHTS into Dreams appear as a playable character and is cited as the same NiGHTS from their series on the official SEGA Youtube Channel SEGA Forever. NiGHTS appearance in a minigame in Sonic Battle was confirmed to be the same NiGHTS from their series according to an official website created by Sonic Team called sonic-city.com. NiGHTS appearance in Sonic Lost World is referenced as being the same NiGHTS from their series as well in the Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia. NiGHTS is further confirmed to be the same NiGHTS (in a behind the scenes DVD including an interview made by SEGA for Journey of Dreams) to have had appearances in the additional titles of SEGA Superstars, Sonic Riders, Sonic Pinball Party, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Shuffle.
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- Energy Manipulation: NiGHTS is capable of bending and firing energy. They can fire bolts of purple and blue energy. When dualized with a Visitor, they would be able to summon diamonds that create blue pillars of light.
- Paraloops: NiGHTS can create portals and black holes, both named "Paraloops". These can suck things in and transport matter and organisms over various locations.
- Shapeshifting: Whether done with the use of Persona Masks or not, NiGHTS can freely turn into objects, creatures and back into their original humanoid state. Examples include bobsleds, rockets, dragons, dolphins, boats, roller coasters, racecars, speedboats and jet planes. They can also curl up in a ball and perform a technique mimicking Sonic's Spin Dash.
- Drill Dash: NiGHTS spins into a spiral or a screw and rams forward with their energy.
- Spin Kick: NiGHTS kicks around them at high speed.
