Character Stats and Profiles Wiki

In the past, we have encouraged users to create new pages for powers and abilities they thought the wiki lacked. However, as of now, we want new pages to be approved by the staff, meaning that new powers and abilities pages must be suggested. This can be done in our official Discord server in the suggestion channel, or messaged to a staff member. Of course, users can always create blogs about powers and abilities to include in their profiles if they don't want to attempt creating official pages. Linking to other wikis' powers and abilities pages is also permitted.

Casual Sans
heheh... the old whoopee cushion in the hand trick. it's ALWAYS funny. anyway, you're a human, right? that's hilarious. i'm sans. sans the skeleton.
~ Sans upon meeting Frisk for the first time

Genocide Sans
it's a beautiful day outside. birds are singing, flowers are blooming... on days like these, kids like you... SHOULD BE BURNING IN HELL.
~ Sans before unleashing his first attack

Summary[]

Sans is a supporting character and the Genocide Route's final boss in the video game; Undertale.

He is one of the guards of Snowdin Village. Lazy and frivolous with a knack for making puns and jokes, he has no interest in capturing humans, much to the chagrin of his brother, Papyrus. Despite his exceedingly laid-back attitude and status as "the easiest enemy", Sans has proven himself to be extremely observant and dangerous when pushed too far, becoming the final challenge Chara faces on the Genocide Route and arguably the toughest opponent in the game.

Statistics[]

Tier: 9-B

Name: Sans the Skeleton

Origin: Undertale

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown (older than his brother)

Classification: Skeleton Monster, Jokester, Sentry, Scientist

Powers and Abilities:

Passive:

  • Superhuman Physical Characteristics
  • Inorganic Physiology (Monsters are made of Magic on the same extent Humans are made of Water)
  • Magic and Creation (All monsters can use magic and depending on monster, create physical objects out of it)
  • Soul Manipulation (All Monster magic directly attacks the soul, tho can attack physically too)
  • SOUL Absorption, Transformation and Extracesory Perception (Monsters can absorb souls of humans after killing them, turning them into creature of incredible power, with Asriel having ability to wipe all humans in the Village easily, monsters can feel emotions of souls inside them)
  • Genius Intelligence
  • Non-Physical Interaction (Monsters' magic can harm ghosts, like when only magic attacks could harm Mad Dummy, a ghost in the physical object)
  • Longevity (Monsters' lifespan is at least thousands of years old, with Gerson serving on the frontlines of Humans vs. Monsters war millennia ago)
  • Durability Negation, Invulnerability Negation and Status Effect Inducement (All his attacks can inflict KARMA, an effect that ignores durability and removes player's Invincibility Frames, melting opponents' life away and drains their health over time. Karma is heavily implied to work even on Flowey, despite him being a being with no soul)
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall (Combat-applicable; by not taking his turn, Sans indefinitely extends it. The enemy cannot attack, use items or abilities such as Information Analysis and Social Influencing. Outside the battle, he looks at the player after joking, calls them out as a Dirty Hacker in that Ending, does that in end of the Demo and continuously breaks it in Undertale Promo material)
  • Clairvoyance and Information Analysis (Can sense Frisk's LV in his judgements and tell how many times they died in his battle)
  • Instinctive Action (Can dodge even when asleep)
  • Stealth Mastery (Can sneak up on Frisk using his abilities)
  • Cosmic Awareness (Knew from the look of Frisk's face that they heard his speech before, like his brother probably felt deja-vu from seeing Frisk after a reset happened, was aware of Flowey/Frisk messing with the timelines, knows when Frisk hasn't SAVED.)
  • Vehicular Mastery (Drove a tricycle with one hand on high speeds)
  • Multiple Languages (Can understand Froggits)

Mobility:

  • Teleportation/Time Stop (Continuously does that for various reasons, can teleport others too, as well as items, like when he instantly teleported key to his room to Frisk's keychain)
  • Flight (like his brother, he can float, pretending to grow taller to play Dog Poker)

Activated:

  • Danmaku (Can create hundreds of bones and dozens of blasters to overwhelm the opponent)
  • Bone Manipulation (Uses Bone Magic to attack)
  • Telekinesis and Gravity Manipulation (Can turn enemy's soul Blue, which makes them heavier, as well as changing their gravity by throwing them with telekinesis)
  • Summoning, Flight, Size Manipulation and Energy Projection (Can summon Gaster-Blasters, skulls capable of shooting energy, flight and come in different sizes)
  • Social Influencing (Convinced Frisk, a mass murderer, to spare him)
  • Possibly Air Manipulation (Created a tornado of trash in his house)
  • Spacial Manipulation (Papyrus stated that Sans had space-based abilities, in Deltarune, seemingly made a basket of fruits larger on the inside)
  • Selective Intangible Attacks (Can make his attacks intangible, tho, should be able to make them tangible too, like Undyne with her spears)
  • Platform Creation
  • Limited Technopathy (In Deltarune, made phone continuously ring)

Resistances:

  • Soul Manipulation (All soul attacks on Monsters register as physical)
  • Extreme Cold and Heat (Can survive in Hotland, which is so hot it can vaporoze a plastic cup, and in Snowdin, which is so cold it's snow doesn't melt from Hotland's heat)
  • Radiation (The Gamerblood Energy Drink is a common product in the Underground despite it containing radioactive waste.)
  • Necromancy (As the body of a monster is made of magic, it is attuned to their SOUL. Because of this, they do not leave a corpse at their death, instead turning to dust and with their SOULs also not lasting after dying, but just disappear.)
  • Possibly to Poison Manipulation (Monsters can stay indefinitely at the CORE, which is seemingly filled of ozone.)
  • Fear Manipulation (Sans is unaffected by Chara's presence, which made Doggo feel fear, despite him not able to see not moving objects, and made even Flowey shiver, despite him having no feeling, with him himself being surprised)

Attack Potency: Wall Level physically (Even with 1 ATK, should still be stronger than Frisk with 1 LV and 0 ATK. Effortlessly destroyed a tough and heavy branch Frisk couldn't handle) Can ignore conventional Durability with KARMA and Soul Manipulation.

Speed: Massively Hypersonic+ (Comparable if not superior to 19 LV Frisk, who could keep up with Undyne the Undying, who in turn should be far faster than Vulkin's lightning, and Thusdereplane, who can move faster than it), possibly at least FTL (Far faster than Napstablook, who could casually close their window before light from Flowey's transformation could reach it), Infinite through Touhou collab with Undyne (Undyne fought against Flandre Scarlet, who in turn scales to a lot of characters capable to crossing infinite distances). Higher reaction speed. Far higher Attack Speed with Blasters (They shoot instant rays of energy who Frisk could dodge only through Aim Dodging)

Lifting Strength: Unknown physically, at least Class 10 with Telekinesis (Should be superior to his brother, who can move hundreds of kilograms of bones + Giant bone)

Striking Strength: Wall Level

Durability: Wall Level (Same as his Attack Potency due to having 1 ATK and 1 DEF)

Stamina: Superhuman (Can continuously dodge Frisk's attacks, but over time shows obvious signs of tireing, sweat, deeper breathing and eventually falling asleep however, he only loses stamina upon dodging, as summoning bones, blasters, using Telekinesis and teleporting seemingly don't waste his stamina)

Range: At least Tens of Meters with regular Magic, far higher with Blasters, Hundreds of Meters with Teleportation.

Standard Equipment: Bones and Blasters

Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius (While Sans is lazy, he has demonstrated incredible skill and proficiency in science, physics and even Combat, being one of the most skilled fighters in the Underground. Reads quantum physics books in his off-time.

Has a workshop located in the basement of his house, which contains blueprints with unfamiliar handwriting or symbols related to a "strange machine," presumably referring to the broken machine covered up in the same room. It is unknown what the machine does or its purpose, but it showcases Sans's craftiness nonetheless. Sans also appears to share a deep friendship with Alphys, and likely knowing about the dark truth of the Amalgamates, which is supported by him having the dogfood Alphys uses to feed Endogeny This may also imply that "Our Reports" is referring to Alphys, which is supported by the fact that she also possesses knowledge about the other timelines.

Weaknesses: Extremely lazy. His body will have his defenses weakened if he refuses to fight against the opponent, and will get even more vulnerable if said opponent has an extreme desire to kill, however it is not that big of a problem with him due to being able to dodge physically or through teleporting. Seemingly unable to attack enemies in Time Stop, only being able to set them up.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Bone Attacks: Sans main way of attacking. Sans is capable of creating/summoning countless bones which can be intangible, coming out of air or from the ground, can be summoned right under the opponent to pierce them through. Like his Brother, Sans likely capable of creating bones of different sizes, up to dozens of meters tall. Sans is also capable of throwing Blue bones, which only damage the opponent when they move.
  • Gaster-Blasters: Animal Skull-like weapons capable of flight and come in different sizes, upon coming, they shoot powerful rays of pure energy that cross huge distances in an instant, like bones, they can be summoned in huge numbers.
  • Blue Mode and Telekinesis: Sans is capable of turning Enemy's Soul Blue, which makes the opponent heavier, making it harder for them to fight, it also allow him to freely manipulate it by throwing it into different directions, can possibly move objects and opponents physically too.
  • Teleportation/Time Stop: On numerous occasions Sans showed ability to teleports, using it to make jokes, take "short cuts" etc, he also showed ability to Stop Time, which may or may not be one in the same with Teleportation, he used it to stop time in order to talk with Frisk in Grillby's, after which he said that he wanted to tell them something but forgot, and using it in battle to set up sets of attacks on his opponent, he is also capable to teleporting people too, like when he took Frisk with himself to Grillby's or continuously teleported their Soul back into the center of the battlefield. In theory, he should be able to use it in battle to keep the distance between himself and opponents and to dodge attacks.
  • Platform Creation: Can create Platforms which his opponents and possibly himself can use.
  • KARMA: When opponent is struck by one of Sans' attack, a sort of poison is placed upon them which is capable of completely ignoring defenses and giving an effect that drains their life force for a brief moment. KARMA cannot exceed 40 and also cannot cause the enemy's HP to fall below one, with the more KARMA damage is built up, the faster it drains.
