~ Tobias Wilson describing himself to Gumball and Darwin during The Third[1] |
Summary[]
Tobias Wilson is a supporting character in The Amazing World of Gumball. He is a student at Elmore Junior High. He claims to be popular with the ladies, but he is actually pretentious and is just good at projecting the persona of someone who is successful. Tobias frequently fails to impress his female classmates, yet continues to believe that he is the coolest person. He is overconfident in his social and physical capabilities, and enjoys boasting about his supposed status and accomplishments, much to the annoyance of others. Despite his shortcomings, Tobias does have plenty of friends anyway, and does actually come from a well-off family.
Powers and Stats[]
Tier: At least 6-C, potentially 2-C limited Environmental Destruction as the protagonist
Name: Tobias Wilson
Origin: The Amazing World of Gumball
Gender: Male
Age: 12 years old
Classification: Colorful fluffy creature
Powers and Abilities:
Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Toon Force, Light Manipulation (Tobias can rapidly change the color of his fluff and headband as seen during The Third[1]), Invisibility (He can turn invisible by draning his color out of him as seen during The Guy[2]), Preparation, Fourth Wall Awareness (During The Voice, Tobias said that he feels like the world isn't set up how it should be, because he feels like his life isn't as interesting as the lives of Gumball and Darwin despite being more successful than them, and he feels like he's a supporting character in his own life[3], which is because he actually is a supporting character in the show, and doesn't get to incidentally have as many exciting experiences as Gumball and Darwin get to; during The World, he was going to sing to the viewers before getting interrupted[4]), Telekinesis (During The Line, Tobias telekinetically choked his mom[5]), Teleportation (During The One, after being kicked out of Gumball's home, he appeared inside the home right after[6]), Imagination Manifestation (Fought Gumball using imaginary weapons during The Points[7]), Energy Projection (Using an imaginary shock rifle[7]), Portal Creation (Using an imaginary portal gun[7]), Size Manipulation (Using an imaginary shrink gun[7]), Explosion Manipulation (Using an imaginary plasma grenade[7])
As shown during the episode The Test, Tobias is next after Gumball to be the protagonist of The Amazing World of Gumball, which is a TV show in-setting in which being a protagonist is a canonical in-setting detail; if Tobias is the protagonist, he gains the following abilities: Breaking the Fourth Wall, Plot Manipulation and Reality Warping (During The Test, when Gumball changed his personality so his classmates could like him more, Tobias changed the style of the show into a comically clichéd sitcom in accordance to the theory of nature abhors a vacuum, replacing Gumball as the star loser in the grand sitcom of their lives, and making the show centered around Tobias[8]), Empathic Manipulation (Tobias being the protagonist led to Masami and Penny accepting him for dating[8], despite Tobias' personality not changing as the protagonist and Tobias having been rejected by those characters during other episodes[9][10]), Causality Manipulation (As a result of the lazier writing of the show with Tobias as the main character, there were multiple continuity mistakes so the show could center around Tobias' antics[8]), Time Manipulation (Despite a school day not being finished, he was able to skip to nighttime, and then to Christmas[8]), Data Manipulation (Tobias had the potential to get the show canceled due to how bad he made it[8], which would've meant Gumball's whole world deteriorating and falling apart, glitching and decreasing in production quality[11]), Acausality (Type 1; Tobias was able to make it so that the previous events of the episode The Test were all just a dream, still through his status as the protagonist that he achieved during those events[8])
Attack Potency:'At least Island level (Tobias can munch on the leg of Gumball[12] and dent Bobert, knocking him onto the ground[13]),, potentially Low Multiverse level limited Environmental Destruction as the protagonist (Tobias had the potential to get the show canceled[8], which would have meant Gumball's whole world deteriorating and falling apart on a metafictional scale[11], which would be contextually more consequential than Richard accidentally tearing apart the fabric of the universe[14])
Speed: Massively FTL+ (Tobias can react to Gumball swiftly trying to trick him into smacking his rump[12], or stick duel with him[10])
Lifting Strength: Class M (Wrestled Bobert and pinned him down. Knocked Penny onto the street with a brush off)
Striking Strength: At least Island level
Durability: At least Island level (Survived and continued fighting after getting hit by a strong attack from Darwin[7], and has survived the destruction of Elmore Junior High[13])
Stamina: Superhuman (Survived being stranded on the school roof for at least three days without access to food or water in The Slap[12])
Range: Standard Melee Range physically, Several Meters using energy blasts; Multi-Universal using his protagonist abilities
Standard Equipment: Headband and enough 20 dollar bills to fill a deep hole in a school hallway[13]
Intelligence: At most Average (Tobias is among the stupidest people in Elmore according to Gumball during The Goons.[15] Despite his self-assurance, he frequently fails at seducing his female classmates.[16][10][17][9][18] There isn't much else that can be told about Tobias, but he is otherwise a regular student)
Weaknesses: Tobias is arrogant and entitled; during The Candidate, he expected 90% of the snacks at the fundraiser to be for him because his parents paid for half of the fundraiser[13], and during The One, he thought that it was fine to walk into Gumball's home without being invited when they aren't very close friends[6]. He is secretly insecure; during The Move, he cried about Masami hitting him despite usually seeming deep in denial about girls hating him.[9]
Note: Tobias being powerful during The One was just his imagination, and it didn't apply to reality at that time[6] in contrast to during The Points.
