Toriko (トリコ) is a renowned, incredibly strong and skilled Gourmet Hunter and the titular main protagonist of the Toriko anime and manga series. He is one of the "Four Heavenly Kings", nicknamed "The Glutton" for his abnormally large appetite, with his skill has allowed him to discover innumerable varieties of ingredients worldwide.

Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius Hunter, Toriko is one of the greatest and most skilled and intelligent bishokuya in the world. He is very knowledgeable in science used in hunting. Can create plans to capture powerful and dangerous creatures from around the world. Can easily understand and copy techniques like Knocking, which he can simulate without using Knocking Equipment and only using his hands. Is deemed to be very talented by Ichiryu and Setsuno, both world wide legends, and Midora the leader of Gourmet Corp.

Weaknesses: Extreme calorie cost of most of his attacks, eventually gets smaller and smaller and less costly as he Masters Food Honour and Intuition, Enbu and after eating Acacias Full Course. If he doesn't eat something after using Red Oni's Autophagy, he will die. Having his Oni leave his body put a strain on him, with the White Oni having a very limited time of being manifested.

Standard Hunting Techniques:

  • Gourmet Energy (グルメエネルギー Gurume Enerugī), or more correctly Appetite Energy is a fundamental energy of the universe, embodying good taste, desire for food, and even life force. The energy is as old as the universe, it cannot be destroyed, and it is the source and origin of Gourmet Cells, their power and everything that came from them. By focusing its overwhelming hunger and desire to devour prey, a predator can emit this energy outside of its body and shape it for various purposes. Appetite Energy is highly versatile, having offensive, defensive, and useful supplementary applications. It can be emitted directly from the body to manifest semi-solid weapons and instruments, as in the case of Toriko's Fork and Knife and their derivatives. Appetite Energy can also be infused directly into particular body parts, increasing their strength and even generating beneficial mutations.
  • Fork (フォーク Fōku) and Knife (ナイフ Naifu): The first of Toriko's hunting attacks. He forms his left hand into a 'claw' position (Fork) and his right into a 'chopping' position (Knife). With Toriko's strength he can easily pierce into a beast with his Fork then quickly cut them with his Knife, which has been shown to be able to cleanly cut through a Don Acorn. The Knife and Fork are somehow extremely sharp, able to cut or pierce through stone and steel, and even dent a freshly sharpened Melk Kitchen Knife.
    • Fork (フォーク FōkFlying Fork (フライングフォーク Furaingu Fōku) and Flying Knife (フライングナイフ Furaingu Naifu): After consuming the Jewel Meat of an adult Regal Mammoth and the BB Corn, Toriko's Fork and Knife have gained ranged attack capability. These 'Flying' attacks, speculated by Toriko himself to be composed of Appetite Energy released subconsciously, are portrayed as actual forks and knives flying towards the target. There is a singular type which fires a single Fork or Knife and a Rapid-Fire Type (連射型 Rensha-Gata) which shoots 30 smaller Forks or Knives. Through Food Honor, Toriko can send out countless of them without worrying about exerting his strength. According to Toriko himself, his Forks are as durable as iron. By the time of the Cooking Festival Arc, he has shown to have complete control of the Flying Fork and Flying Knife, capable of sending them in at virtually any angle. By guiding these techniques through his sense of smell, he gave his attacks the ability to home in on his opponent's scent. Using the Rapid Fire Type version and the Homing version of both Flying Fork and Flying Knife simultaneously and combined with the Ultimate Routine, Toriko can send them omnidirectionally to his opponent, making it look like a storm of forks and knives that falls from every direction to the target.
    • Leg Fork (レッグフォーク Reggu Fōku) and Leg Knife (レッグナイフ Reggu Naifu): Because the legs have 4 times the muscle strength of the arms, these are far more powerful then Toriko's regular Fork and Knife, even cutting and piercing straight through Tommyrod's powered-up form. Like the hand-based Fork and Knife, the Leg Fork and Leg Knife have long-ranged variations, called Flying Leg Knife and Flying Leg Fork.
  • Nail Punch (#-連釘パンチ #-Ren Kugi Panchi, #-Fold Spiked Punch on English dub): This is one of Toriko's most potent and signature move. After building up power in his arm, Toriko unleashes it as a flurry of punches that hit the target simultaneously, creating a number of surreal, delayed shockwaves. By straining his muscles even more he can land more hits in the same instant; the power increases immensely with every additional hit. Toriko likens the effect to a hammer repeatedly striking a nail, hence the name of the technique. Throughout the series Toriko has increased the number of punches of his throughout the story.
    • Leg Nail Kick (レッグ釘キック Reggu Kugi Kikku): Using the same principles as his Nail Punch, Toriko instead kicks at his opponent, inflicting multiple, penetrative hits, even 4 times stronger than his Punch.
  • Knocking (ノッキング Nokkingu) is a special, non-lethal method of capturing wild beasts. It generally involves striking the nerves (or pressure points) which control a living creature's motor functions either through the usage of specific martial arts techniques or with specialized weaponry, such as the biodegradable needles fired by the Knocking Guns. It can also be used on inanimate objects like the Earth and even concepts like time.
  • Food Honor (食義 Shokugi), also known as Food Etiquette is both a customary and a philosophical practice of etiquette that teaches gratitude for ingredients and a strict method of eating in especially difficult, but necessary ways in order to bring out the true flavor and potential of certain ingredients.
    • Food Immersion (食没 Shokubotsu): When nearly starving to death on the Bubble Way near the Chowlin Temple, Toriko began to express true, pure appreciation for food, and by that he grasped the secret technique of Food Honor that is "Food Immersion". Toriko is now able to immerse himself with a meal and by that, able to absorb and save more nutrients from it inside his body than normally possible. Much like with Master Chin Chinchin this will help him store almost unlimited amounts of energy inside his body, enabling him to survive for abnormal time spans without food or water and supporting his overall stamina. Food Immersion is the epitome of Food Honor, once mastered a person should be able to last without food for incredibly long periods and fight at their top potential. This is due to a controlled calorie consumption, and an incredible amount of calories to work with.
  • Life Erase is a technique that erases his presence, allowing him to get close to an animal without it being aware. Toriko is able to use this technique almost immediately after seeing Coco use it while hunting Puffer Whales.
  • Instinct/Intuition is a technique where the user stops all useless thoughts and fights based on instinct gained from all the fighting experience one has gained.
  • Routines (ﾙｰﾃｨｰﾝ Rūtīn) are actions centered around mental images and physical movement. The higher the concentration, energy, and experience a person has with routines then the less physical movement is required to perform the routine. When Toriko uses Routines, his attacks cause his opponent to see their death before it happens, similar to intimidation. Prior to learning the Ultimate Routine, Toriko used a much simpler original Routine, in which he forms his hands into Fork and Knife, and then 'clangs' them against each other twice.
    • Conduct of the King - Ultimate Routine (王の所作ｱﾙﾃｨﾒｯﾄﾙｰﾃｨｰﾝ, Ō no Shosa: Arutimetto Rutin): The "supreme" routine taught to Toriko by Aimaru. By imagining a scenario or event strongly enough, a person is able to cause an impression of that scenario or event that it actually occurs, whether that be imagining stress and forming an ulcer or imagining an attack succeeding and having it actually succeed. To fully utilize the effects of the technique it requires an astonishing level of concentration and self-confidence, and depending on the difficulty of the desired impression the energy required can be enormous.
  • Ogre (オーガー Ōgā), or Red Oni (赤鬼 Aka Oni), is one of Toriko's Appetite Oni, the others being the Blue Oni and the White Oni. In the long past, Ogre was considered the strongest warrior ever, unmatched when enraged, with an incredible sense of smell, upon reviving and eventually eating him, Toriko gains all of his abilities and strength.
    • Autophagy ( Ōtofajī): Autophagy occurs when Toriko's mortal life is in peril and is activated by the Red Oni. Autophagy temporarily restores Toriko's stamina to full for 5 minutes, in exchange Ogre eats away at Toriko's body during that time until he can replenish his stamina. Within this 5-minute period, Toriko needs to re-nourish his body or face serious health risks as Ogre eats away at his body, and overusing autophagy may even result in death.
  • Devil Sense ( Debiru Sensu, literally meaning "Devil's Sense of Smell"): The Red Oni uses his enhanced nose to inhale deeply. With his incredible sense of smell, he can learn everything about a target, and pull out the target's soul. It is on par with the Wolf King's skill, Guinness Search. Upon pulling the soul of the target, the body becomes numb and defenceless, unless they can return to their body while being pulled by the Devil Sense.
  • Jet Moves By eating AIR, Toriko gains a new power-up after developing his Gourmet Cells' skin respiration process. The force of the air inhaled and exhaled is comparable to that of a jet plane. Such air force running through the body increases Toriko's attack power immeasurably.
    • Jet Punch (ジェットパンチ Jetto Panchi): The Red Oni throws a punch using his skin respiration to enhance it's speed and power. Jet Nail Punch (ジェット釘パンチ Jetto Kugi Panchi): Using a giant-sized left arm of Ogre, Toriko uses a Nail Punch with an incredible striking power. It is implied that it is quite strong as it was able to clash equally against Post-Timeskip Teppei's giant wood arm. Jet Nailgun (ジェットネイルガン Jetto Neirugan): Toriko uses his Nail Gun with Ogre's left arm, increasing its power and speed, it is a long ranged attack as it flies past its target.
    • Jet Fork (ジェットフォーク Jetto Fōku): Toriko uses his standard Fork with Ogre's left arm, the power and speed of the attack are enhanced. When Toriko uses this attack, streams of steam are seen flowing out of his arm. The range of this attack is long enough to travel up to space. After Toriko eats most of Acacia's Full Course and Red Nitros' cells, this attack can punch through the planet. Rapid-Fire Type Jet Fork (連射型 ジェットフォーク Rensha-Gata Jetto Fōku): Toriko throws several Jet Forks in quick succession, likely more than twelve. Flying Jet Fork (フライングジェットフォーク Furaingu Jetto Fōku): Toriko generates a large amount of Jet Forks in the air around the target, the aftermath is an extremely large explosion.
    • Jet Knife (ジェットナイフ Jetto Naifu): Toriko uses his standard Knife with Ogre's right arm, increasing its speed and power. The arm becomes thin and slender before the attack is launched. It was strong enough to make Guinness dodge it. After Toriko eats most of Acacia's Full Course and Chichi's cells, this attack can slice off a large section of the planet. It has 4 times the power of the arm variant. Jet Leg Knife (ジェットレッグナイフ Jetto Reggu Naifu): He uses the right leg of Ogre to perform a Leg Knife, increasing its speed and power, it has 4 times the power of the arm variant.
  • Blue Oni (青鬼 Ao Oni) is one of the Appetite Onis residing within Toriko. The Blue Oni existed deep within Toriko's subconscious, being sealed away due to its dangerous personality and level of power that exceeded even the Red Oni.
    • Devil Fork (デビルフォーク Debiru Fōku): A more powerful version of Toriko's Fork, the Blue Oni morphs his left arm into a fork with several sharp tines.
    • Devil Knife (デビルナイフ Debiru Naifu): A more powerful version of Toriko's Knife, the Blue Oni swipes his arm to slash an enemy.
    • Blue Spit (ブルースピット Burū Supitto): The Blue Oni morphs his right arm into a spike and quickly pierces through the enemy's body and exits out the other side, with the spike being seen from space.
  • White Oni is a mysterious entity and Torikos original Appetite Oni. It is likely the most powerful entity in the universe, with its power greatly eclipsing Red and Blue Oni, as well as Neo. Very little is known about White.
    • The Finger Poke: is White Onis technique that completely paralyzed, depowered and one shot Neo Acacia. Very little is known about this technique.
    • Cell Absorption: White can absorb gourmet cells of other Appetite Oni, something that should be impossible.
  • Food Luck (食運 Shoku-un) or Gourmet Luck (グルメラック Gurume Rakku) is the fortune of the Gourmet Gods one can have with ingredients and their daily lives, such as the chances of finding rare ingredients, surviving against nature, or the luck one can have succeeding in cooking or hunting endeavours as well as battle. Food Luck in battle applications can be used to repel enemy attacks, and guarantee the attacks of the user hitting and being effective. It controls the very fate of the user and the plot of the story.

Note: Pretty much every standard ability that most Toriko characters have by using Appetite energy and their Gourmet Cells, Toriko should have too, while not the master of Knocking he should know the standard power-sealing techniques, he should be able to use the Back Channels to their highest degree.
