The entirety of How to Play consists of Palutena directly teaching Pit himself about the game.

Getting Started:[]

Pit asks about the mythological Greek namesake of the franchise, Palutena trying to hide what happened to him .

1. Palutena teaches Pit how to move, aim and shoot, referencing the circle pad, L button and and touch screen. .

2. Pit references Uprising's release being 25 years after the first game, mention it was in "two dimensions" .

3. Pit mentions the circle pad and touch screen again. Palutena also mentions using the circle pad to glide in a loop.

4. Palutena brings up using the stylus on the touch screen to face left. as well as using to spin around one's view and tapping the touch screen to stop, then teaching how to dash and run using the circle pad, Pit then mentioning Super Smash Bros by name and mentioning balanced gameplay .

5. Palutena teaches Pit how to use ranged and melee attacks as well as charged shots and mentioning the L button, Pit wanting a strategy guide .

6. Palutena teaches Pit how to dodge, mentioning use of the circle pad and reticle .

7. Palutena introduces Pit to Powers, mentioning their icons on the touch screen and tapping with the stylus to use them, as well as teaching him about the size and configuration of Power pieces, also mentioning that she made them all and the Autofill feature and using the + control pad, Pit referencing his playing Dr. Mario .

8. Palutena introduces Pit to Intensity and how it, hearts and the Fiend's Cauldron work. This also happens to show what occurs after a Pit death if you press down on the control pad, a Reaper frolicking in hearts. .

Chapter 2: Pit and Palutena banter about the "Dark Lord" cliche


Chapter 3: Pit while remembering Hewdraw mentions his 8-bit sprite in the bottom of the touch screenPit says most bosses aren't very nice after defeating the violet/original Hewdraw .


Chapter 5: Palutena teaches Pit how to ride Exo Tanks with things such as the stylus and circle pad, him thanking her afterward . Pit remnisces on the past while admiring a mural of his NES adventure .


Chapter 7: Palutena references "the 80's" when reffering to the events of the first game. Thanatos references him not having the h in his name in the english version of the first game.

Chapter 8: Palutena and Pit reference  how in the first game he would say "I'm finished" upon death , and how he still does so in this game . Palutena mentions the box is less "pixelated" than she remembers .

Chapter 9: Palutena and Pit mention how in the past the Underworld had the highest "difficulty level" , referencing the fact the Underworld was actually the first level yet was infamous for being the hardest part of the game. Pit brings the treasures for the "first" run through of Chapter 9 , but can defeat Medusa without them on subsequent playthroughs, Palutena reacting to Pit's boldness; they do still bring the Wings of Pegasus though; Pit can also decide not to bring them on subsequent playthroughs of Chapter 23 , changing his dialogue with Hades. Pit also references Nintendogs during his fight with the Twinbellows clone.

Chapter 11: Pit directly references the How to Play section while talking to Palutena during the Cragalanche fight .

Chapter 12: Pit compares shooting the Reset Bomb targets to a shooting game.


Chapter 15: Pit references bosses .


Chapter 18: Magnus and Pit references the Chapter 8 and 14 references/ Palutena reviving Pit after death . Pit mentions Light vs Dark.

Chapter 19: Pit and Hades reference Donkey Kong. Pit also references the mid land battle loading screen .

Chapter 20: Viridi recommends Pit save his game.
