“ | I am Diana, Princess of the Amazons! I won't be denied! | „ |
~ Wonder Woman |
Summary[]
Molded out of clay by Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, Diana grew up within the island of Themyscira's warrior culture and trained to be a great warrior, utilizing the incredible strength and speed the gods of Olympus had granted her. This carefree life was interrupted when Diana became aware of an invasion of Man's World by the Imperium's army which threatened to wipe out all of mankind. Her mother urged her to not intervene, as according to the Themysciran doctrine of staying out of Mankind's affairs. Diana's kindness and heroic nature would not permit her to stand aside as so many suffered, and thus she stole Hephaestus's legendary armor and embarked towards Man's World, fighting alongside its greatest heroes and successfully repelling the invasion. Afterwards, with no home to return to and having become more aware of the injustices within Man's World, Diana, taking the name "Wonder Woman," joined the aforementioned heroes in forming the Justice League, a team dedicated to battling injustice and cruelty wherever it exists.
NOTE: Though I've made the mistake of counting Diana as a magical being before (and thus claiming she would take advantage of Superman's magic weakness), "The Balance" confirms that she isn't magic in the traditional sense, as she was unaffected by the balance of Tartarus being upset.
Powers and Stats[]
Key: Base | With the Life Equation
Tier: High 6-A to 5-B, far higher with her sword | Low 1-C
Name: Diana of Themyscira, known by the people of Earth as Wonder Woman
Origin: The DC Animated Universe
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown
Classification: Amazon, Founding Member of the Justice League
Powers and Abilities:
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics (See Attack Potency, Speed, Lifting Strength, and Durability)
- Superhuman Athleticism (Can leap inhumanly high)
- Flight (Can fly at Hypersonic speeds)
- Blessed (Was granted her powers by the gods of Olympus)
- Hand-to-Hand Combat Mastery (Was trained by a warrior race, the Amazons, to be the "ultimate warrior", with the officially licensed JLU Heroclix sets implying she has literal centuries of training, showing knowledge of judo throws, mid-air combat, underwater combat, etc. Kept up in skill with Hawkgirl, one of Thanagar's foremost warriors and was even with Aquaman, who is king and champion of a society of great warriors. Her Battle IQ is evident in instances such as using her knowledge of undersea pressure to crack Devil Ray's suit and force him to retreat. Frequently uses her weapons in ingenious ways, such as using her lasso to turn one enemy into a weapon against other foes, pulling foes toward her using her lasso, or using her tiara as a boomerang to hit foes from a distance)
- Weapon Mastery (with several weapons, including her lasso and sword)
- Attack Reflection (Sent the Weather Wizard's lightning bolt back at him with her bracelets. Reflected an alien ship's laser blasts back at said ship. Sent Star Sapphire's beam back at her)
- Mind Manipulation and Paralysis Inducement with the Lasso of Truth (Her indestructible lasso can restrain foes and force any restrained by it to tell the truth)
- Shockwave Creation (Blasted apart a fragment of the Anti Life Equation)
- Acrobatics (Did flips to avoid blasts from Felix Faust)
- Enhanced Swimming (Can swim inhumanly fast)
- Limited Teleportation (Can request to be recalled to the JLU Watchtower)
- Resistance to Extreme Heat (Wasn't hurt by touching creatures made of lava)
- Resistance to Extreme Cold (Was unaffected by swimming in glacial waters during To Another Shore)
- Limited Resistance to Electricity Manipulation (Kept turning an extremely heavy lever while being electrocuted harshly by it)
- Limited Resistance to Transmutation (Kept her wits about her and retained some of her superhuman physicality while transformed into a pig, to the point that she could block a shotgun blast and remember the song Batman sang to save her)
With the Life Equation, she can use: Creation (Re-created the multiverse), as well as Negation of Existence Erasure (Overpowered and reversed the effects of the Anti-Life Equation, which erases things from existence)
Attack Potency: Multi-Continental to Planet Level (Note: Wonder Woman being unable to even break the outer casing of a small section of an iceberg is a transparent outlier - it would imply she's Wall Level or so, which even the most stringent DCAU downplayers don't seriously believe. Stronger than Hawkgirl, as shown here and during "Grudge Match," though Shayera did manage to hold out against the Amazon with help from Vixen. Her strikes could harm the Persuader, who took attacks from a bloodlusted Jessica Cruz - as a Green Lantern, Jessica should be comparable to other Lanterns who can perform this feat and this feat. Harmed Aquaman, who has taken killing-intent blasts from the Trident of Poseidon - the Trident of Poseidon is composed of nearly all the magic on the planet during an age of magic, as well as all the magic from a spell that kept Atlantis, a large city afloat for millennia without even slightly weakening. Stomped and overpowered Vixen even when the latter used her most physically powerful animal powers and had help from Hawkgirl - Vixen was capable of physically overwhelming Shadow Thief, who destroyed a massive tomb by spinning - however, it 's important to note that Carter Hall said this tomb was already unstable, and it began to collapse even before Shadow Thief began spinning - therefore, while Shadow Thief certainly contributed to the collapse, the extenuating factors make it difficult to discern exactly how much force he exerted in this instance. Trashed a city block with a single punch. A Kaznian tank didn't give her any trouble at all. Smashed through a stone wall. See here for my reasoning as to why DCAU Superman is not Low Complex Multiversal), possibly higher (The exact extent to which many of the characters scale to 1/1000 of holding together the sun is vague, though it's entirely possible she's far stronger than is listed here. Alongside other leaguers, can kill Old Ones, which are referenced as "Lovecraftian" and "Extradimensional" - however, extradimensional does not inherently have to mean higher-dimensional, rather, quoting the Oxford dictionary, "from or in another dimension or dimensions," which is quite literally true of the Old Ones, who exist in another universe), far higher with her sword (Shown to be comparable in its sharpness to the Persuader's atomic axe, which nearly bisected Superman in a single swing) | Low Complex Multiverse Level with the Life Equation (When she called forth the Life Equation within her, she instantly re-created the entire Infinite Multiverse)
Speed: Relativistic combat speed and reactions (Would not scale to Superman's FTL scaling due to the fact that her only scaling to Superman is to one who is either expressly holding back or his Justice League Season 1 incarnation, who is weaker than his other DCAU appearances - such "other appearances" including S:TAS, where he performed his 2c feat. Moved this fast while blocking light-speed beams from a Lantern Ring, and is just as fast as the Persuader, who dodged and smacked away Jessica Cruz's lantern beams. Comparable to the many others who have dodged/deflected lantern beams, as compiled here. Deflected blasts from the Imperium's soldiers, which are verbatim called laser beams. Did the same with blasts from an Imperium army ship, which are also called laser blasts - as well as dodging a beam from an Imperium army walker, which is called a laser beam. Comparable to Static, who blocked a light-based laser at close range after it was fired. Used her bracelets to deflect lightning bolts after they were fired multiple times, and has repeatedly done the same with bullets and once with a crossbow bolt. Comparable to Rubberband Man and Batman II, who have both dodged lightning after it was fired. Dodged Vox's projectile sound waves), possibly MFTL+ (It's possible that Lanterns' travel speed scales to their combat speed, though personally I've never seen any arguments for that which were nearly compelling enough for me to claim it's definitive), and at least Hypersonic+ flight speed (Overtook an ICBM in its terminal phase, where their speeds approximate 7km/s, or Mach 20. Overtook a WW2-era fighter jet) - though it does not seem entirely consistent with the rest of her speed scaling, it should be noted that Diana was capable of moving around in a dimension that was beyond space and time, which could be interpreted as Immeasurable speed. | At least Infinite (The Life Equation spread through and restored the Infinite Multiverse almost instantly)
Lifting Strength: At least Class K (Pushed a huge Atlantean ship into another while underwater. Flew while carrying and threw one of the Javelins. Struggled evenly with her Justice Lord counterpart, who was capable of stopping a moving train in seconds - since certain shots seem to depict the train as having at least three cars, and a NYC subway train car weighs, on average, about 41 tons (with Metropolis presumably being of similar industrial quality to New York), this would certainly be a > 100 ton lifting feat. Helped push over a massive war wheel, which is essentially a small-building-sized hunk of metal. Stopped a massive Imperium army spacecraft from taking off with strength alone. Swung an Apokoliptian heavy gun a great distance. Swung around and threw the Annihilator. Bent the barrel of a tank. Caught a falling helicopter. Caught a falling transmission tower. Flew while carrying an Apokoliptian tank. Resisted the pull of a vortex that tossed around stone pillars like leaves in a hurricane and even tore some of them in two. Uprooted a tree. Tossed a car at Superman. Lifted a Moai, which generally weigh this much. Threw part of a stone pillar at Felix Faust. Casually restrained Hawk, who uprooted a tree and swung it like a baseball bat. Bent an assault rifle with no effort. Destroyed a huge tentacle by flexing. Held up a huge slab of stone, but the effort this seems to have taken her seems inconsistent. Ripped prison bars off their hinges), likely Class M (Slowed down an ICBM. Her feat of bending a tank's barrel most likely would yield similar results to this feat. Likely stronger than Booster Gold, whose super-suit made him strong enough to hold himself and a civilian in place against a gravitational anomaly that sucked in a building despite the building being farther from the epicenter of the phenomenon than Booster himself. Tore a bit of the outer casing off Brainiac's ship with no clear groove to get leverage with)
Striking Strength: Multi-Continent Class to Planet Class (Physical strikes are the primary expression of her AP)
Durability: Multi-Continental to Planet Level (Has taken several blows from Aquaman, Giganta, and Aresia, her physical rivals. Survived a casual strike from Hades, who easily overpowered her, and has similarly taken hits from the likes of Mongul and Bizarro. No-sold being run over by a massive war wheel. Emerged completely unhurt after being dragged along concrete with enough force to dig a massive trench. Wasn't even scratched by a ton of rubble falling on her), higher with her Bracelets (Her bracelets can deflect attacks from the likes of AMAZO's lantern ring: AMAZO's ring blasts essentially knocked her out when they hit her in the body. She's also blocked attacks from characters much stronger than her, such as Sinestro, Star Sapphire, and Kalibak. Her bracelets are made from a shield that was specifically intended to protect Zeus, the mightiest of the Olympians, from harm)
Stamina: Superhuman (Fought and defeated Devil Ray, whose strength was augmented by Lex Luthor, while suffering from two darts' worth of a neurotoxin intended to kill her. Was trained to be the "ultimate warrior," which likely wouldn't be true if she could tire after just a few hours of battle. Got up shortly after being beaten to within an inch of her life by Mongul. Kept turning an extremely heavy lever while being electrocuted harshly by it)
Range: Standard Melee Range physically, Extended Melee Range with her sword, Several Meters with her Shockwave Attacks (Hit the Anti-Life Equation from a few meters away), Hundreds of Meters with her Tiara (Considering Diana's superhuman strength and the fact that the Tiara functions as a boomerang, its throwing range should approximate the 472-meter IRL world record for a boomerang throw. Her tiara hit Justice Lord Wonder Woman from a great distance), and at least Tens of Meters with her Lasso (Stretched far into the sky to prevent the Imperium from escaping) | Low Complex Multiversal (The Life Equation stretched across the Infinite Multiverse to restore it)
Standard Equipment:
- Bracelets: Cuffs made from a shield once used by Zeus, which Diana can use to reflect projectiles and block attacks.
- Tiara: Her tiara, which she can use as a boomerang. Diana is capable of throwing it with such force that it could knock out her Justice Lord counterpart in a single hit.
- Lasso of Truth: An indestructible golden lasso used by Diana to restrain and move foes. As of JLU's The Balance, it can force those wrapped in it to tell the truth.
- Optional Equipment:
- Sword: A blade that Diana wielded with great skill during Justice League vs The Fatal Five. It could clash evenly with the Persuader's axe, which was less than a nanometer thick and could nearly bisect someone as durable as Superman in a single swing.
- Invisible Jet: An invisible jet that can fly underwater as well as in the air.
Intelligence: At least Gifted, likely Genius, with nearly unparalleled combat prowess (Blessed by the gods with Wisdom. Was trained by a warrior race, the Amazons, to be the "ultimate warrior", with the officially licensed JLU Heroclix sets implying she has literal centuries of training. Was made an ambassador to the UN. Discerned the Annihilator's weakness when Kaznian generals could not)
Standard Tactics: Generally goes on the attack once she's sure her opponent is malicious, to immediately dispatch her enemy and minimize the collateral damage.
Weaknesses: None notable.
Note: Bruce Timm has stated that the original DCAU tie-in comics are not canon, with the only tie in comics that have statements to the contrary (other than Batman: The Adventures Continue, which has so many continuity issues that it's essentially impossible to argue it's canon) being Justice League Infinity, the Batman and Harley Quinn tie in comics, and specifically the first annual of Batman Adventures. Ergo, I only consider those three comics canon.
