Yog-Sothoth is an ancient cosmic entity, the most powerful of the Great Old Ones that appear in the Derleth Cthulhu Mythos.
Spawned by the Nameless Mist, Yog-Sothoth, along with Azathoth, commanded the rebelion of the Great Old Ones against the Elder Gods, their creators and masters. After a titanic war, which left its fiery marks in the cosmos, the Great Old Ones were defeated, imprisoned on Earth or exiled to other worlds and dimensions, limited by the power of the Elder Sign.
Yog-Sothoth was banished outside of the whole multiverse into the primordial chaos along with Azathoth, were he lies enchained. However, it is prophesied that, when the Cycle completes, the Great Old Ones will be free again, and Yog-Sothoth shall open the Gate for them.
Even while Yog-Sothoth has been limited by the Elder Gods, he is still able to manifestate physically in our dimension, answering the prayers of his depraved cultists. This is because Yog-Sothoth is connected to all space-time continuums, existing in every point of space-time and knowing past, present and future.
