Summary

Zeruel is the Fourteenth Angel, and the most powerful: the deadliest of the Angels that focus on direct, conventional combat. It is among the three to penetrate NERV Headquarters, and the only one to do so through a direct assault.

Powers and Abilities: Angel Physiology (Humanoid), Large Size (Type 1 - Comparable to the Evas), Minor Body Control (Capable of closing the core on its chest with a set of lid-like membranes to protect it from damage), Limited Elasticity & Bodily Weaponry (Can greatly extend its ribbon-like arms to use as deadly weapons at range), Levitation (Capable of A.T. Field assisted levitation), Explosion Manipulation (Can create violent explosions with optic blasts), Resistance to Power Nullification (Asuka was unable to neutralise his A.T. Field), Hot Temperatures (Tanked an N2 mine point blank with no damage, N2 mines are likely comparable in temperature to nuclear bombs)

Attack Potency: At Least Large Mountain Level (Is consistently stated within supplementary material to be the most powerful Angel; Instantly destroyed the 22 decks separating the ground and the geofront of the 3rd New Tokyo, which took Ramiel, another powerful Angel, nearly 10 hours to penetrate (see citation above). Completely fodderized Unit-02, and could harm Unit-01, who was able to harm him), up to Large Island Level (Is stated in supplementary material to excel in offence amongst the Angels, which would put him above Sahaquiel's self destruction, which would have destroyed the Geofront even from 20 kilometres away yielding this much power), Multi-Continent Level with A.T. Speed: Superhuman movement with FTL+ reactions, attack speed and combat speed (Blitzed Unit-01 and Unit-02, who were able to react to Israfel's optic blasts. Was able to close over his core in time before Unit-00 had hit it with an N2 Mine. Should be superior to other Angels with comparable or outright superior speed ratings to the Evas)

Lifting Strength: Class G (Zeruel can physically lift and toss an Evangelion quite easily).

Durability: At least Large Mountain level (Was completely unaffected by Unit-02 firing rockets at it repeatedly and by Unit-00 exploding a N2 bomb point blank to his core. Was ultimately unaffected by Unit-01 beating up on it for an extended period of time), up to Large Island Level (Upscaling from Sahaquiel's self-destruction), Multi-Continent Level with A.T. Field (Is said in supplementary material to excel in defense among other Angels, which would put his A.T. Field above Ramiel's, which required all the electricity in Japan to penetrate, and Arael's, which was able to momentarily withstand a blow from the Spear of Longinus, which parted the clouds of Japan releasing this much energy)

Intelligence: Zeruel has displayed a single-minded focus on its objectives and was intelligent enough to realize that it had to bypass Central Dogma’s self-destruct system somehow. In battle, Zeruel has shown an animalistic cunning that makes it a very devastating adversary. When it senses defeat, Zeruel will go all-out in order to destroy an opponent.

Weaknesses: The core of the Angel, if destroyed, will destroy the Angel as well.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

(S² = Super Solenoid Engine; also known as the "Fruit of Life"): An elusive double-helical organ, traditionally possessed by only Adam and its progeny, the Angels. This "engine" organ is responsible for the perpetual energy supply that the Angels can utilize, along with the vast majority of their exotic physiological powers (including levitation, regeneration and energy-projection). Appears to be the key to inverting "A.T. Fields" and projecting an "Anti A.T. Field" also, as well as accessing the "Dirac sea".

• A.T. Field: The intangible light of the soul in the physical world, A.T. Fields are possessed by all living beings on Earth and are one of the major aspects of the human psyche that defines someone as an "individual" and "protect" them from the intrusion of another's feelings. However, the Evangelion Units and the Angels are unique in the ability to generate A.T. Fields that are corporeal and occasionally visible to the naked eye, possibly due to a large amount of innate energy contained in their souls. Their A.T. Fields mostly functions as a form of physical defence: a forcefield consisting of concentric octagonal yellow lines. The barrier is almost perfect, only being temporarily disrupted from its active state by incredibly energetic weapons (such as military-grade positron beams and N² Weapons) or erosion by another corporeal A.T. Field that is superior in strength. If left alone after initial disruption, the A.T. Field will revive its durability almost instantly as long as the user is still alive, making it a regenerative barrier. The transition from a dormant A.T. Field to an active Field is indicated by a slight atmospheric blurring.

• Levitation: Zeruel is capable of using its A.T. Field to levitate, and used this ability to float into the Geofont, unleashing its fury on all who opposed it.

• Regeneration: Angels possess a healing factor, able to regenerate from relatively large wounds thanks to the S² Engine in their cores and as long as it is intact they can hypothetically regenerate from complete bodily destruction. Their regeneration has a limit however, since as previously mentioned, the S² Engine is responsible for regeneration, if this organ is significantly damaged, it will cancel the regeneration, killing the angel.

• Cruciform Blasts: Upon its arrival to Tokyo-3, Zeruel shows the ability to project a gigantic blast of purple energy, either in the form of a single, devastating explosion or spread out into an uncountable number of cross-shaped pillars. These blasts of energy are fired from Zeruel's eyes and tower above the surrounding landscape, reaching hundreds of meters in height. They have the destructive capacity to wipe out entire city blocks at once as well as piercing through all 24 layers of the GeoFront’s plate armour in a single shot in order to reach it.

Ribbon Arms: Zeruel possesses two, ribbon-like arms which are its main weapon in melee combat. It first use these to dismember Unit-02 and secondly to repeatedly strike at Unit-01's core, attempting to destroy it. The long range of these weapons makes Zeruel a force to be reckoned with, as it took a Berserk Unit to finally be able to counter the appendages.
